Eurofiber has secured €2.2 billion ($2.56bn) in long-term financing as part of a sustainability-linked refinancing.
The fiber firm stated that the long-term financing will support the company’s continued expansion and investment in open digital infrastructure across Europe.
This financing replaces the company’s existing €1.5bn ($1.75bn) deal and comprises significant undrawn committed debt facilities. The transaction was strongly supported by a broad group of banks and institutional investors.
Australian investment firm Macquarie Asset Management was among those investors, with the company separately confirming it had €125 million ($145m) in senior term loan financing.
Eurofiber operates a 77,500km fiber network which spans the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, and Germany, alongside eight data centers in the Netherlands. It acquired two in 2024 alongside the purchase of Bytesnet.
The company adds that the transaction is structured as a Sustainability-Linked Loan aligned with the latest LMA Sustainability-Linked Loan Principles. This includes annual ESG targets, plus a margin adjustment mechanism linked to three key performance indicators.
Those performance requirements include; reducing Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Science Based Targets initiative methodology, introducing a circularity KPI, and increasing gender diversity across the workforce.
Eurofiber said the refinancing will support further investment into its fiber network, expansion of its cloud infrastructure service, and delivering customer-driven innovation in its core markets.
“This refinancing confirms the strength of Eurofiber’s business model and the confidence of our financing partners in our long-term strategy. The new platform provides a diversified and scalable capital structure that supports our investment plans, enhances our financial flexibility and positions us well for continued growth in Europe’s digital infrastructure market,” said Alex Goldblum, CEO of Eurofiber.
BNP Paribas and Rothschild & Co acted as financial advisors, while Clifford Chance acted as legal advisors to Eurofiber, Antin Infrastructure Partners and PGGM Infrastructure Fund in connection with the refinancing.
In June, Eurofiber struck an agreement to sell four of its French data centers to Edge data center firm Etix. In February, the company acquired Luxembourg-based connectivity provider LuxNetwork.
