Tritax Big Box is set to deliver a 125MW data center in Chelmsford, UK.
The company has set up a development management agreement with Tritax Management LLP for the data center, which is set to be built on a greenfield site on the Beaulieu Parkway in Beaulieu Park.
DCD reported in February that a planning application for a two-building data center campus on the site had been submitted to the local authority, Essex County Council.
The application said each building would offer 44MW across 33,110 sqm (356,395 sq ft) of data center space.
Tritax Management is an investor in specialist real estate owned by Tritax Group, Tritax Big Box’s parent company. Tritax Management has been appointed to provide development management and technical services. These include pursuing planning, overseeing construction, pre-letting services, technical electrical expertise, and managing the technical aspects of the scheme and all power-related elements.
It has been agreed that Tritax Management will receive a payment of £3.3 million ($4.4m) for its work on the site to date, along with other future payments, some of which will be contingent on milestones such as obtaining planning permission.
Tritax Big Box is a British real estate investment trust, or REIT, traditionally focused on investing in distribution centers and listed on the London Stock Exchange.
The company is also looking to develop a data center campus west of London around Slough. Last week, the UK government granted planning permission to this scheme, which will see a 147MW data center built, overruling local objections to the project.
