Oslo-based AI startup Cloudgeni has raised $1 million in funding from Nordic investors including byFounders Angel Collective, Startuplab, Antler, reMarkable CEO Vegard Gullaksen Veiteberg, and Danish entrepreneur Nicolaj Højer Nielsen. The company develops AI agents designed to automate cloud infrastructure operations and reduce the need for manual system management. Cloudgeni says it plans to use the funding to expand across the Nordics and the US, where it recently signed its first paying customer, while also hiring new team members to support growth.
Cloudgeni is an AI company developing software for automated cloud infrastructure operations. Founded in 2024 by former Microsoft developer Davlet Dzhakishev and former McKinsey consultant Iuliia Petryshyn Thuen, the company builds AI agents designed to manage and maintain cloud environments with limited manual intervention. Cloudgeni works with enterprise customers in sectors including industry and shipping and is expanding across the Nordics and the US.
“Increasingly complex cloud environments have made it more demanding to ensure stable operations without extensive manual oversight. We believe AI will move from being a support tool to playing an active role in operating systems,” says CEO of Cloudgeni, Davlet Dzhakishev.
The company follows a DevOps approach and automates tasks that would otherwise require manual handling in system operations.
“Our AI agents both build and operate cloud infrastructure. They are designed in a way that makes the adoption of the agent safe and reliable to the system owner,” explains Dzhakishev.
The company has already gained the trust of large enterprises in Norway, such as industrial group Hydro and shipping company Havila, and has entered into a partnership with IBM.
The startup recently raised $1 million in fresh capital from a group of Nordic investors, including the byFounders Angel Collective, an angel investor network affiliated with Nordic VC byFounders, Norwegian VCs Startuplab and Antler, CEO of tablet producer, Remarkable, Vegard Gullaksen Veiteberg, and Danish angel investor and serial entrepreneur, Nicolaj Højer Nielsen.
“We are pleased to have experienced and knowledgeable investors backing our next phase of growth. With the product now validated in our home market, we are focusing on expansion across the Nordics and the US, where we recently secured our first paying customer,” says Thuen, who serves as COO.
At the same time, the company will expand its team to support its growth going forward.
