Renewable energy developer WBS Power appears to have proposed, then withdrawn, an application to build a data center with a 1.6GW power connection in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, southwestern Poland.

Named WBS Power 3, the project would have been built in the town of Trzebnica and featured several buildings up to 35 meters (114ft) in height, on-site diesel generators, and energy storage facilities.

DCD has approached WBS Power and the municipality for comment.

News of the application was first broken by NOWagazeta.pl, after councilor Marcin Raczyński claimed that the project had been buried by the local authorities in the municipality’s spatial development plan. After an application to build a data center on a plot inside Trzebnica in January 2026, Raczyński claimed that, while the municipality did mention the developer planned this type of facility, he and his fellow councilors were not sufficiently briefed on the project’s details.

Shortly after this claim was published, however, it emerged that the investor had withdrawn its attempt to buy the plot in September. Speaking to NOWagazeta.pl, Jerzy Ciołkowski, president of the firm trying to sell the land, PPHU Sady Trzebnica, said that the investor had failed to receive confirmation from the regional electricity distributor Tauron that it could supply the power necessary to run its planned data center, and would therefore not proceed with developing the plot. This has not been officially confirmed by the municipality or WBS Power, however, and changes to the spatial development plan to permit the possible construction of a data center remain live.

A spin-off of another Polish company, PST Solartechnik, WBS Power is a major renewable energy developer. In December 2025, it formed a joint venture with Prime Capital to build a 500MW data center in Brandenburg, eastern Germany, to be co-located with a combined 500MW/2,000MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) and solar plant named Project Jupiter.

In March, meanwhile, WBS Power announced plans to build the Baltic Data Center Campus, a 3.2GW facility in Choczewo, Poland’s Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Several data center projects in Poland in recent months have attracted opposition. This includes an application to build a facility in Nowa Wieś, Masovian Voivodeship, a project that was eventually blocked by councilors in the commune of Dobre in September. In August, residents of a Warsaw suburb sharply questioned the need for a data center co-developed by Polish construction firm Budimex and the Spanish infrastructure operator Ferrovial, on the grounds that it would exacerbate existing strains on the local water network.
