NxN Data Centers is entering the Portuguese market with the acquisition of an operational data center in Évora, with 1MW of installed and marketed capacity, according to the company.

The company will integrate the asset into its platform through NxN Portugal and use this infrastructure as a foundation to develop new investment and growth opportunities in the country.

The transaction expands NxN’s presence in the Iberian Peninsula, where it is developing a platform of data centers such as those announced earlier this year in Madrid and Valencia.

Along with the acquisition, NxN has announced its intention to invest up to €100 million ($113.5m) over the next three years in Portugal.

This figure corresponds to the development of new opportunities the company is currently evaluating and is not currently tied to any specific project. The goal is to progressively expand its platform through new digital infrastructure.

The asset’s location allows NxN to add operational capacity along the route connecting Lisbon and Madrid, while it explores new developments in Portugal.

The Portuguese market is experiencing significant expansion in data center infrastructure. According to Colliers, Portugal had more than 2.6GW of planned IT capacity in the first half of 2026, with Lisbon accounting for ~1.4MW of that capacity.

NxN positions its platform as a network of hyperconnected data centers ready for artificial intelligence workloads, with designs adaptable to different densities and cooling technologies, including direct-to-chip cooling and immersion cooling.

The company also prioritizes energy efficiency and water consumption in the design criteria for its facilities, with the goal of operating using clean energy and waterless cooling systems.

The acquisition of Évora thus provides NxN with its first operational asset in Portugal and establishes a base from which the company intends to expand its capacity in the Portuguese market.
