A high business entry rate and emergence of 12 unicorns, such as Booking.com and Adyen, have solidified the Netherlands’ reputation as a unicorn breeding ground. From fintech disruptors like Bunq to sustainable fashion leaders like Mud Jeans, Dutch startups showcase a range of innovations driven by a shared commitment to impact and innovation.

This ecosystem thrives on collaboration and experimentation, attracting both established companies and aspiring entrepreneurs. Delving deeper into this dynamic landscape, today we spotlight 10 exceptionally promising stars to keep an eye on in 2024 and beyond.

Farmless: Amsterdam-based fermentation startup Farmless brews planet-friendly, functional proteins with a complete amino acid profile. They merge ancient fermentation with modern feedstock, crafting new foods from renewable energy-derived liquid feedstock and naturally occurring microorganisms. The startup, founded in 2022, raised €4.8 million in total funding to build a pilot protein brewery in Amsterdam.

Fero: Amsterdam-based FERO employs advanced analytics to analyze shopper behavior and predict purchase likelihood. FERO customizes payment methods and journeys for an enhanced purchase experience, using segmentation, multi-classification prediction, and reinforcement learning to address challenges like 3D secure authentication. Founded in 2022, the company raised a €2.9 million in total funding.

Firsty: Amsterdam-based Firsty is developing a customer-focused solution to enter the neglected and costly global mobile data retail market. Founded in 2023, the company seeks to revolutionize the telecommunications sector by prioritizing customer needs with its technology-driven approach. Having secured €1.1 million in funding, Firsty aims to democratize mobile connectivity worldwide.

Instant Commerce: Amsterdam-based Instant Commerce is a next-generation, no-code page builder for Shopify stores. It empowers users, whether they operate as solo entrepreneurs or lead professional teams, by providing them with the necessary tools to craft remarkable customer experiences and expand their operations with assurance. Instant Commerce was founded in 2022 and raised €7.5 million.

Klearly: Founded in 2022, Klearly is an Android application enabling businesses to accept payments via a phone, tablet, or smartwatch, utilizing the phone or tablet as a payment terminal. Notably, only the recipient requires the app, removing the necessity for the payer to have it installed. The fintech startup raised €2.1 million to help SMEs to turn their mobile phones into card terminals using the app.

Lapsi Health: Healthtech startup Lapsi Health is developing sound-based medical technology to empower clinicians at the point of care and to enhance remote consultations. This Amsterdam-based startup is revolutionizing medicine through the engineering of next-generation devices that transform medical sound into Digital Biomarkers. Founded in 2022, the company raised €5.5 million for further development.

Naya: Groningen-based NAYA is a multipurpose split keyboard to making the complex programming and computer design tasks more efficient. Naya is tailored to prevent repetitive strain injuries among IT workers and professionals requiring extensive computer use. Founded in 2022, the startup has raised €1.1 million through a Kickstarter campaign.

Neople: ‘S-hertogenbosch Neople is on a mission to democratize technology and make it accessible to people, regardless of their technical skills. Neople operates as a sort of temporary staffing agency for digital colleagues, enabling companies to integrate AI capabilities into their work environment. Founded in 2023, Neople raised €1.5 million to expand to other markets.

Solvimon: Utrecht-based Solvimon’s end-to-end solution enables companies to overcome the common barriers of implementing flexible pricing and billing options. Solvimon empowers businesses with complex pricing modeling, real-time invoice monitoring, and product usage insights for revenue growth and customer retention. Founded in 2022, the company has raised €9 million to accelerate growth.

Timberhub: Based out of Amsterdam, Timberhub operates as a digital marketplace catering to the timber industry, facilitating streamlined transactions, including buying, selling, and shipping industrial timber across Europe and abroad. Founded in 2022, the company secured €7.3 million in funding to empower customer growth by providing tailored liquidity and supply chain solutions.
