Stockholm-based energy technology company Green Voltis has raised €13.5 million in a Series A round led solely by Lochpine Capital. The company develops AI-powered route-to-market (RTM) optimisation technology for battery storage and renewable energy assets, helping operators manage grid connections, control energy systems and trade electricity across European power markets. With more than 1.2 GWh of capacity under contract and in operation, Green Voltis will use the funding to advance its Aether AI trading agent and Chronos energy management system, expand in key European markets, and develop its Power-to-Compute business, which aims to connect AI data centre infrastructure with flexible, grid-friendly energy systems.
Green Voltis provides route-to-market optimisation services for battery storage and renewable energy assets. Its platform combines Aether AI, a trading agent that forecasts electricity prices and optimises revenue across multiple power markets, with Chronos, an energy management system that controls on-site operations and supports grid compliance. The company also provides grid connection, commissioning, market access and commercial services for energy asset owners. Green Voltis operates across 10 European markets and is developing a Power-to-Compute business focused on connecting flexible energy infrastructure with AI data centres.
Martin Kievit, CEO and co-founder of Green Voltis, said: “Every new gigawatt of renewables makes Europe’s grid harder to balance, and flexibility now sets the pace of the energy transition. We built Aether and Chronos to turn storage and renewable plants into assets the grid can rely on and investors can bank on. The next wave of demand comes from AI. Data centres need power faster than grids can deliver it, and the intelligence that operates a battery can also manage a data centre’s energy. Green Voltis will provide the AI energy infrastructure layer between the grid and compute. With Lochpine Capital as a long-term partner, we are ready to build it.”
The investment comes as Europe’s battery storage capacity expands, creating greater demand for systems that can manage increasingly complex electricity markets. Battery operators must navigate grid connection requirements, technical standards and price fluctuations across day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets. With electricity prices changing at 15-minute intervals, optimising battery revenues requires systems capable of responding to several markets simultaneously.
Green Voltis provides services across the asset lifecycle, from grid connection and commissioning to energy management and electricity trading. Its engineering team handles hot commissioning and prequalification for ancillary services, helping storage projects enter the market. The company’s Chronos energy management system controls on-site operations, supports grid-code compliance and enables grid-forming functionality.
Its Aether AI trading agent uses time-series foundation models to forecast electricity prices and coordinate trading across multiple markets. Rather than committing battery capacity to a single market, the system aims to combine revenue opportunities across different electricity markets.
The company also offers commercial arrangements such as revenue sharing, tolling agreements and revenue floors. These structures are intended to provide more predictable income for asset owners and support project financing.
Green Voltis says the battery assets it manages have consistently outperformed the Clean Horizon index, an independent benchmark for battery storage revenues. It has market access established or under development in 10 European countries.
“As renewables take a larger share of the energy mix, grid connection and power trading are becoming key to the value of energy assets, and they are among the scarcest capabilities in Europe’s energy transition,” said Blake Niu, Partner and Head of Private Equity at Lochpine Capital. “We followed this field for a long time before choosing Green Voltis. The team combines AI-native technology with a global industrial perspective, and its operating results, which have consistently beaten the industry benchmark, show what it can do. We believe Green Voltis can become a leading operator of flexible energy assets in Europe and create greater value where AI and energy meet.”
Alongside its battery storage operations, Green Voltis is developing a Power-to-Compute business targeting the growing energy requirements of AI infrastructure.
The company points to lengthy grid connection timelines as a major obstacle to data centre development in Europe, with connections in some of the region’s main data centre hubs taking an estimated seven to ten years. At the same time, regulators in countries including Ireland and Finland are increasingly requiring new data centres to provide flexibility to the electricity grid.
Green Voltis aims to address these challenges by developing data centre sites as flexible energy assets. Its Power-to-Compute model is designed to connect grid infrastructure with computing capacity, allowing data centres to operate in a way that can respond to grid conditions.
The company has identified a pipeline of approximately 120 MW of powered land in the Nordic region and plans to develop the opportunity in partnership with compute operators.
The €13.5 million Series A will support further research and development of Aether AI and Chronos, expansion into key European markets, and the development of the Power-to-Compute business.
