Finnish startup secures €9 million Series A to scale power conversion technology for AI data centres and electrification

Espoo-based deeptech company Vensum Power has raised €9 million in a Series A round co-led by existing investor Lifeline Ventures and new investors Larsen & Toubro Group and Eviny Ventures, with continued participation from Grid.vc and Harjavalta Ventures. The round brings the company’s total funding to €15.2 million. Vensum Power develops software-defined power conversion technology designed to minimize energy losses and make electricity more efficiently usable in applications such as EV charging, energy storage and AI data centres. The funding will support the transition from technology development to industrial-scale production, with the company’s first products for EV charging, energy storage and DC microgrids expected to enter mass production at partner factories in 2027. Vensum also plans to extend the technology to AI data centres, where power availability and conversion efficiency are becoming increasingly important constraints.

Founded in 2018, Vensum Power develops software-defined power conversion technology for electrification and digital infrastructure applications. Its technology is designed to minimize energy losses during electricity conversion and improve power efficiency in areas including EV charging, energy storage, DC microgrids and AI data centres. Headquartered in Finland, the company employs around 20 people.

“The funding round propels us from developing technology to delivering it at industrial scale and bringing the same proven solution to AI data centers, where access to power has become the main bottleneck. The question in data centers is no longer only how powerful the chips are, but how efficiently the used electricity actually reaches them. Thanks to the software-defined approach, our converters operate consistently at extremely high efficiency even with rapidly changing loads,” explains Peter Nisula, CEO of Vensum Power.

The new funding marks a transition for Vensum Power from developing its technology to bringing it into industrial production. The company plans to begin mass production of its first products in 2027 through manufacturing partners, initially targeting EV charging, energy storage and DC microgrids.

The same power conversion technology will subsequently be adapted for AI data centres, where growing electricity demand and limited grid capacity are creating challenges for operators. As data centres require increasing amounts of electricity to run AI workloads, improving the efficiency of power delivery has become an important part of addressing infrastructure constraints.

Vensum Power’s software-defined approach is designed to maintain high conversion efficiency even when electrical loads change rapidly. According to CEO Peter Nisula, the technology can help ensure that more of the electricity supplied to data centres reaches the equipment in a usable form.

The Series A was co-led by Lifeline Ventures, which had already invested in the company, alongside new investors Larsen & Toubro Group and Eviny Ventures. Grid.vc and Harjavalta Ventures also participated.

“Data centers are competing with every other sector for the same grid capacity, and Vensum Power tackles one of the most overlooked inefficiencies in the system: converting power into a form that equipment can use optimally. The global energy transition and the growth of digital infrastructure both depend on getting this right, at scale. We are proud to support Vensum Power as it scales up across global markets and, in doing so, we help accelerate the energy transition,” says Prashant Chiranjive Jain, Managing Director of L&T Vyoma and Head of L&T Electronic Products & Systems, both business verticals of Larsen & Toubro.

Both new investors bring industrial expertise in areas relevant to Vensum Power’s target markets. Larsen & Toubro is an engineering and technology group, while Eviny operates in renewable energy and energy infrastructure.

“Through our own operations, we see every day how much value is lost when power is converted on its way to where it is needed. Vensum Power cuts those losses in areas we know well, such as EV charging, energy production, and energy storage. We look forward to supporting the team with Eviny’s experience from more than a century in renewable energy,” says Andreas Engelsen, CEO of Eviny Ventures.

The investment brings Vensum Power’s total capital raised to €15.2 million. The company intends to use the funding to scale production and expand its technology into new applications, including AI infrastructure.
