Neocloud Nebius has reportedly signed an 18MW capacity agreement with Merlin Properties for a data center in Spain.
As reported by El Mundo and citing “company sources,” the facility in question is Merlin’s Getafe data center near Madrid.
The Madrid-Getafe data center is one of the facilities jointly developed with Edged Energy. According to Edged’s website, the campus has two buildings: MG1 with 20MW of capacity, and MG2 with 48MW of capacity. The data centers operate with a PUE of 1.15.
Merlin declined to confirm the scale of the lease agreement with Nebius to El Mundo.
DCD has reached out to Nebius and Edged for comment.
Nebius, with the new Spain location, will now have operations in five European countries. In the UK, Nebius has recently signed capacity agreements with Kao Data and Ark DC, leases capacity in data centers in Paris, France, with Equinix; has an existing data center in Mäntsälä, Finland, and is planning to develop further data centers in France and Finland. The company also has operations in Iceland.
Merlin and Edged have partnered on data centers since 2021, and have data centers under development or in operation across Spain and Portugal in Bilbao Arasur (x2), Madrid-Getafe, Barcelona, and Lisbon that could total around 60MW at the end of the first phase and eventually total more than 200MW. It was previously targeting Andalusia, but in February 2026, the company abandoned the plans due to a lack of guaranteed power supply.
In January 2025, the company revealed it was looking to develop two gigawatt-scale campuses in Spain located in Navalmoral de la Mata in Cáceres Province and Valdecaballeros in Badajoz Province.
Edged also operates data centers in the US, including in Missouri, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Iowa, Ohio, and Illinois.
