MOVEMENTS, a Spanish platform that enables the creation, scaling and sustainability of citizen movements, has reached its initial target of €300k in its pre-Seed round and is opening an extension round up to €350k to bring in strategic investors before the final close.
This milestone follows initial backing from business angels Miguel Vicente (Antai, Wallapop, Glovo), Vincent Rosso (Consentio, BlaBlaCar), David Tomás (Cyberclick), Marta Huidobro (AEBAN) and Ignacio Carnero (Libelium, Ontruck). They are joined by social entrepreneurs including Sergi Figueres, the co-founder and CEO of Worldcoo (acquired by Glovo), and Diego Hidalgo, the founder of Amovens.
“We are witnessing something rare: people who not only support causes, but also want to develop and sustain them over time. That completely changes the game,” explains Francisco Polo, founder of MOVEMENTS.
IDirectly comparable CivicTech or citizen-mobilisation rounds are limited, so the nearest reference points for MOVEMENTS sit in adjacent categories such as community, participation and impact platforms.
These include Madrid-based Akka, which channelled nearly €9 million into tech companies in 2025; Lisbon-based Goparity, which raised €2.9 million to help finance impact projects; Milan-based Waveful, which secured €1.8 million to expand its social community platform; and London-based Unfabled, which reached just over €3.3 million in total Seed funding to scale its community-led women’s health platform.
Against that backdrop, MOVEMENTS’ €300k pre-Seed round, with an extension up to €350k, is smaller in size but still fits a wider pattern of funding flowing into platforms built around organised communities, participation and digital infrastructure.
Taken together, the funding mentioned across MOVEMENTS and these adjacent EU-Startups examples comes to roughly €17.35 million.
“Our goal is not just to grow, but to redefine how power is built in society. That involves providing anyone with the tools to start, scale and sustain their cause on a global scale,” adds Francisco.
Founded in 2025, MOVEMENTS is a citizen empowerment platform whose mission is to provide activists and organisations with tools that have “historically only been available to large institutions, allowing any cause with genuine purpose to reach its maximum impact potential“.
Since its launch, MOVEMENTS has experienced notable growth, with the following monthly increases:
- 940% in December 2025
- 127% in January 2026
- 3,184% in February 2026
The most notable example of a movement launched on their platform is Sanidad Pública Segura (Safe Public Healthcare), which yesterday became the platform’s first movement to reach the Congress of Deputies. Over 100,000 signatures were handed over in defence of patient safety in just five weeks. Led by doctor Tamara Contreras, this movement has succeeded in placing the debate on the state of the healthcare system at the centre of the political agenda.
Another noteworthy movement is Generation Zero Nukes, led by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Carlos Umaña, which has helped to reignite public debate on Spain’s stance on nuclear weapons.
More recently, Signos que cambian el mundo (Signs that Change the World), led by deaf activist Marcos Lechet, has generated social mobilisation around compliance with sign language legislation. In Spain, the initiative has been endorsed by prominent figures in the deaf community, including Nora (@nagorericol), a 10-year-old girl with a substantial following on Instagram, where she teaches sign language, as well as Noemí García, a leading content creator in the field of sign language education.
Following this first funding milestone, MOVEMENTS is entering a new phase in which it will consolidate its product and scale its model.
In April, the company will finalise its MVP by launching its subscription system. This will enable the movements to generate recurring revenue and ensure their long-term sustainability.
In parallel, MOVEMENTS will start preparing for its Seed round, which is planned for June 2026. The company has two main objectives for this round: the development of an agent-based artificial intelligence system to optimise the creation and management of movements, and international expansion, particularly focusing on the United States as a priority market.
This next step aims to establish MOVEMENTS as a global infrastructure for creating movements, combining technology, funding and influence within a single ecosystem.
