European hosting and cloud provider Ionos has launched a new data center location in Germany.
Revealed by the company today, September 18, the data center spans 8,000 sqm (86,111 sq ft) and is “strategically positioned” near the DE-CIX exchange in Frankfurt.
The exact location of the data center has not been shared.
Ionos said the data center is designed to handle data-intensive applications, including AI, digital government processes, and financial services workloads.
The data center is powered by 100 percent renewable energy and operates with a PUE of 1.23 when in “full operation.”
According to Ionos, the company is now operating out of 32 data centers.
The company has other German sites in Berlin and Frankfurt, which are operated by United Internet and Equinix, respectively. It has not been stated whether the new Frankfurt data center is an Equinix facility or a different colocation provider.
In July 2025, Ionos announced it had deployed the Nvidia DGX H200 system in its data centers in Germany. In May, the company teamed up with SAP, Deutsche Telekom, and Schwarz to apply for European Union support to build a large data processing center for artificial intelligence.
Ionos is also part of Virt8ra, a testbed sovereign Edge cloud platform in Europe that launched in January 2025.
