Data center firm Yondr Group has launched the second phase of its Frankfurt data center in Germany.
The DigitalBridge-owned firm this week announced that its 40MW data center in Bischofsheim, just south of Frankfurt, is now fully operational.
First announced at the end of 2021, the company launched the first 20MW phase in December 2024.
Peter Hill, VP design & construction EMEA at Yondr, said: “Bringing more than 100MW of capacity online across Europe in the last 12 months is a clear reflection of our ability to execute at scale. The completion of our Frankfurt development reiterates Yondr’s strong presence in the EMEA region and our commitment to enabling clients to extend their global data footprint with consistent quality and a repeatable model as the urgent need for capacity continues. With an ambitious delivery pipeline ahead, we look forward to continuing this progress and delivering even more data centers across the region.”
The site includes a solar photovoltaic (PV) installation on the roof, a green wall, and electric vehicle charging points. Yondr said it has also completed a research study exploring the possibility of utilising waste heat from the facility for the municipality.
Yondr is headquartered in London and was previously owned by single-family investment office Cathexis, Apollo Global Management, and Mubadala. It was acquired by DigitalBridge and Canadian pension fund La Caisse in a deal that closed earlier this month.
The company says it has more than 420MW of capacity committed to hyperscalers, with “significant” additional land to support a total potential capacity of over 1GW. The company has projects in Virginia, Canada, the UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, and India.
Bischofsheim is located just south of Frankfurt, a city that is home to a number of operators, including Digital Realty, Iron Mountain, CyrusOne, NTT, Green Mountain, Global Switch, Colt, Cogent, Vantage, Stack, EdgeConneX, Lumen, Kyndryl, and Telehouse.
