Data center developer CloudHQ has launched a new campus in Paris, France.
Grand Paris Sud (Greater Paris South) last week announced that the first phase of CloudHQ’s new data center in Lisses has been inaugurated.
News that CloudHQ was planning a 140MW development – known as the CDG Campus – outside Paris surfaced back in November 2021. The company aims to build two data center buildings, each comprising 53,000 sqm (570,000 sqft) and 24 data halls, within Essonne’s Leonardo da Vinci business park. Ground was broken on the site in late 2022.
“This data center is a pride for our territory. It is exemplary both ecologically and in its ability to create synergies. Thanks to the recovery of the heat, 7,000 homes will benefit from sustainable energy: A first in Ile-de-France. This project embodies our method: co-build, innovate, and respond to tomorrow’s challenges with ambition and coherence,” said Michel Bisson, president of Grand Paris South.
The facility’s waste heat will be connected to Corbeil-Essonnes’ district heating system, and will warm up to 7,000 homes.
“We are thrilled to announce the inauguration of our data centre project with CloudHQ in Lisses, which is the largest individual data center in France,” Reid Brewin Architects said on LinkedIn.
DuPont Fabros Technology co-founder and CEO Hossein Fateh stepped down from the company in February 2015 and founded CloudHQ the following year. In 2020, Fateh formed Cloud Capital to acquire, manage, develop, and operate data centers.
CloudHQ has 56 data centers, either operational or in development, totaling around 1.1GW of capacity across the US, EMEA, and APAC regions. The company says it has built and leased 2.4 million square feet and 320MW of data center capacity since its formation.
According to the company’s green financing framework, as of November 2024, CloudHQ has leased 11 data centers with a contracted IT load of more than 970MW in the US and Europe, of which 580MW+ is under construction.
The company has existing and planned data center developments across Virginia, Illinois, Minnesota, California, Texas, Mexico, Brazil, the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Thailand, and Japan.
