Soldera, an Estonian startup focused on automating the trading of renewable energy certificates in Europe, has raised €2.5 million in a funding round led by Lifeline Ventures, with participation from Skaala, Lemonade Stand, and others. The company’s platform streamlines the management and sale of Guarantees of Origin (GOs), which certify renewable electricity production. Traditionally a complex and administrative-heavy process, GO trading is simplified through Soldera’s AI-driven system, allowing producers to handle issuance and sales more efficiently. The new funding will support the company’s expansion, the onboarding of more energy producers, and further development of its technology.
Soldera offers an automated platform for managing and trading Guarantees of Origin (GOs) in the renewable energy sector. The platform reduces the administrative burden typically involved in tracking and selling GOs by automating processes such as certificate issuance, sales, and transactions. Soldera connects over 3,000 renewable energy producers, enabling efficient certificate transfers and helping maximize earnings through competitive offers. The system simplifies tasks like equipment registration and invoice generation, aiming to streamline the process for producers and ensure optimal pricing through a broad network of buyers.
“Guarantees of Origin verify renewable energy sources but traditionally create significant paperwork,” states Stenver Jerkku, Soldera’s CEO. “Our AI-driven platform completely eliminates this administrative burden while delivering unprecedented market access and maximizing profits for producers. We automate everything—from issuance to sales—so producers simply set a strategy and we handle the rest, securing premium prices through our extensive network.”
“Soldera’s founding team impressed us with their execution in this emerging category, sustaining double-digit month-over-month growth,” says Jyri Engeström, Partner at Lifeline Ventures. “By simplifying the sale of GOs, they are unlocking a new revenue stream for anyone generating renewable energy—from small residential solar panels to large-scale wind farms.”
