Helsinki-based edtech startup Corrsy has raised $500,000 in pre-seed funding, led by Iraqi venture capital firm EQIQ. Founded by Mustafa Salam, Corrsy offers a mobile app that utilizes gamification, storytelling, and micro-learning to address educational challenges in the MENA region. The funding round included participation from investors such as Finnish edtech angel Risto Vahanen, SuperChargers Ventures, and angel investor Adel Qahwaji. The capital will be used to expand Corrsy’s reach and further develop its technology, aiming to enhance educational access and effectiveness for students in Iraq and potentially other markets.

Founded by Mohamed Al-Hakim, EQIQ is committed to nurturing the Iraqi tech startup ecosystem. This recent investment reflects the firm’s dedication to supporting emerging markets and fostering technological growth. Earlier this year, EQIQ demonstrated its commitment by investing $150,000 in pre-seed funding for Wayl, another promising startup.

Corrsy, established in 2019 by Mustafa Salam, aims to tackle the educational challenges faced by students in Iraq and the wider Middle East. Mustafa’s vision for Corrsy was shaped by his personal experiences during the Iraq armed conflict, where he endured significant hardships, including the loss of his father and displacement. His mission is to leverage technology to create a positive impact on education and society.

Since its inception, Corrsy has made impressive progress. The company launched its first product in 2022, and the Corrsy app has been downloaded over 500,000 times by students in Iraq. Corrsy stands out as the first in the MENA region to integrate gamification, storytelling, and micro-learning into its mobile game app, providing an engaging and effective learning experience for students.

The pre-seed funding round saw contributions from a diverse group of investors. Alongside EQIQ, Finnish EdTech angel investor Risto Vahanen, SuperChargers Ventures EdTech accelerator, Durubi Management Holding Company founded by Yousef Durubi, Jordanian angel investor Adel Qahwaji, and Finnish investor Pekka Hermonen also participated. This diverse backing highlights the global confidence in Corrsy’s potential to transform education in the MENA region.

With new funding, Corrsy aims to broaden its reach. It targets the largest market share in Iraq. It also plans to expand its services to other markets. The company plans to offer high-quality education. It aims to provide education at a very cost-effective price. Everyone with a mobile device and internet connection will benefit. Mustafa Salam is the Founder and CEO of Corrsy. He expressed excitement about the support from esteemed investors. He believes this funding will bring their vision of transforming education in the MENA region closer to reality.

Corrsy focuses on putting students at the center of the learning process, tackling the private tutoring challenge with a unique approach. Over the past two years, the company has developed its product closely with its users, ensuring it meets their needs and preferences. The enhanced product aims to reduce the stress of national exams and motivate students to enjoy the learning process.

The strong backing from a diverse group of investors underscores the market’s potential and the widespread desire to be part of this impactful journey. With robust support, Corrsy is well-positioned to achieve its ambitious goals and revolutionize education in the MENA region.

Corrsy stands at the forefront of educational innovation, leveraging technology to create engaging and effective learning experiences. The $500,000 pre-seed investment led by EQIQ marks a significant step forward for the Finnish EdTech startup. As Corrsy expands its reach and continues to develop its product, it is poised to make a substantial impact on education in Iraq and beyond. The future looks bright for Corrsy, its investors, and the students it aims to empower through high-quality, accessible education.
