Italian-British newcleo, the scaleup for nuclear energy that Stefano Buono founded, signed a joint venture with Viaro Energy, a London-based upstream energy company (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Viaro Energy will subscribe to part of newcleo’s one billion euros capital increase. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the activities of decarbonization of Viaro’s oil & gas infrastructures.
Danish Formalize (fka Whistleblower Software) said it opened a bureau in Milan for consolidating its presence in Italy (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Formalize also attracted 15 million euros from Blackfin Tech, the venture unit of French BlackFin Capital Partners that has assets under management for 3.5 billion. Magnus Boye, Kristoffer Abell and Jakob Lilholm founded Formalize in 2021.
Kurs Orbital, and Italian aerospace startup that Volodymyr Usov founded in 2022 and that I3P (the Incubator of Turin Polytechnic University) supported through the programme ESA BIC Turin, raised seed resources for 3.7 million euros from lead investor OTB Ventures, Credo Ventures, Galaxia (part of CDP Venture Capital), In-Q-Tel, and Inovo (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Kurs Orbital will invest such resources in its organic growth.
Scaglia Indeva, part of Gruppo Scaglia, subscribed to a capital increase of SysDesign, an Italian robotics company, and acquired 28% that Cysero and Neway Industrial held in the business (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The buyer retained Studio Pedroli-Venier &Associati and Deloitte Legal. Studio Comma assisted Neway Industrial while BonelliErede advised Cysero, a vehicle that Avm Gestioni and Kilometro Rosso launched. Marco Franceschini and Andrea Franceschini founded SysDesign that now will rebrand and Indeva SysDesign. Gruppo Scaglia has sales of 29.5 million euros, an ebitda of 5.3 million and net cash of 2.8 mililon.
At the end of 2023, the portfolio of Eureka! Fund I – Technology Transfer and BlackSheep Fund, two vehicles that Eureka! Venture manages, included 34 investments in startups, innovative SMEs and proof of concept projects worth a total of 45 million euros (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The assets have aggregate sales of 32 million, Stefano Peroncini, the ceo of Eureka!, said.
In 2023, Banca AideXa, a fintech bank that Roberto Nicastro and Federico Sforza founded, provided financing facilities worth 670 million euros (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Marzio Pividori, the new ceo, will lead the firm to a further scaleup with revenues of 30 million from current 12 million.
Startup Geeks, an accelerator for edutech startups, launched Startup Geeks Investment Club for providing pre-seed and seed resources (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The club attracted more than 50 investors including Moonstone and Bit ahead of a target of 450 members for pouring 5 million euros resources in startups. Manuel Urzì, the portfolio manager of Startup Geeks, said to BeBeez that the programme aims to connect investors with talents through a robust dealflow.
