CoStar UK, a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed real estate marketplace CoStar Group, acquired 32.94% of Italian proptech Wikicasa (fka WikiRe), a firm that founder and 5.96% owner Pietro Pellizzari heads. The closing took place after an announcement in July 2026 (press release).
Further Wikicasa shareholders are Italian real estate agencies networks Gabetti Property (19.13%), Tecnocasa (19.13%), Re/Max (4.81%), Tempocasa (3.44%), and other minority investors, according to BeBeez data
CoStar Group appointed PwC for carrying on the financial and tax due diligence and assisting with the negotiation of contractual documentation, while Latham & Watkins provided legal assistance. Wikicasa retained ADVANT Nctm for counsel and tax advisors Studio Facchini Rossi Michelutti (FRM) and TCA Partners.
The deal is primarily of industrial significance: the first concrete application of the agreement concerns the commercial property sector, in which Wikicasa is already active via the Commerciali.it portal. CoStar will bring its technologies and access to international marketplaces to Italy, starting with LoopNet, a global platform specialising in commercial property, which, according to figures that the US group released, attracts over 13 million unique visitors per month. The aim is to enable Italian properties listed on Wikicasa to reach international investors, operators and potential users, thereby creating new opportunities for the estate agents using the platform.
Furthermore, in the residential and commercial property markets, the partnership involves the development of tools based on artificial intelligence and 3D digital twins, including the proprietary technology of Matterport, which CoStar acquired in 2025.
In August 2026, Wikicasa acquired a further 49% of Dokicasa and became the sole owner of the Italian provider of digitisation of the administrative and technical procedures relating to real estate assets sales and lettings (press release). The vendors retained LCA Studio Legale while Wikicasa appoitned ADVANT Nctm (press release). Wikicasa purchased 51% of Dokicasa in 2024 (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The total value of the acquisition was more than 2 million euros.
Pellizzari founded WikiCasa in 2015 with the support of Digital Magics (press release). The company attracted more than 10 million euros from investors between its birth and July 2023 when it secured the resources of Century21, CondivideRE, Gruppo Unica, Italy Sotheby’s International Realty, Vendocasa, Vogliocasa, an ZB Immobiliare (si veda altro articolo di BeBeez). In 2022, WikiCasa secured 3 million from the current shareholders (press release) and 0.8 million from other investors. In September 2016, the company attracted 0.3 million from LigurCapital, a firm of the Liguria Region that provides the local SMEs with capital, and leading Italian and international business angels (press release). In 2017, undisclosed investors poured unmentioned resources in WikiCasa (press release).
Alongside its capital-raising efforts, the company developed a growth strategy focused on M&A. In 2020, it acquired Commerciali.it, which targets property for businesses and commercial activities. In 2021 WikiCasa acquired Casaclick.it, a portal born out of the merger of Casapark and Domusclick, from Prelios (see here a previous post by BeBeez).
Pellizzari said: “CoStar Group’s investment in Wikicasa marks a key milestone in our growth journey. We are delighted to combine our expertise and network of estate agents across the country with CoStar Group’s technology, operational scale and global reach, creating new opportunities for the Italian property market”.
Marco Speretta, the ceo of Gabetti, said speaking on behalf of Wikicasa shareholders: “We are delighted to welcome a global leader such as CoStar Group to the Italian market. We believe this transaction will help to increase competition, raise standards of technological quality and service, and accelerate the evolution of the Italian property sector, to the benefit of both professionals and consumers.”
Andy Florance, the ceo and founder of CoStar Group, added: “We are delighted to have reached an agreement to invest in Wikicasa alongside leading Italian players. The shareholders and the management team achievements are impressive, and we believe there is a significant opportunity to create value by bringing our technology, our global scale and our ongoing focus on innovation to the Italian property market.”
