Helsinki-founded AI infrastructure company Verda has raised $189 million in an oversubscribed Series B and additional investment, reaching unicorn status as it scales its full-stack AI cloud. The round was led by Emergence Capital, with participation from MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, 6 Degrees Capital, byFounders, Tesi and angel investors including Meta’s Ola Tørudbakken and Core Auto and GPUMODE’s Mark Saroufim. Verda provides AI-focused cloud infrastructure spanning physical data centres, hardware, cloud services and AI research. The company will use the funding to accelerate product development across its platform, expand inference capabilities and multiply its compute capacity over the next year, while continuing its international expansion across Europe, the US and Asia.

Verda develops cloud infrastructure for artificial intelligence applications. Founded in 2020, the company operates across Europe, the US and Asia, providing a full-stack AI cloud that covers physical data centres and computing hardware as well as cloud platform services and AI infrastructure. Its platform is designed to provide on-demand computing capacity for AI teams, with the company also working on services including inference and AI research.

The financing includes an oversubscribed Series B led by Emergence Capital, plus additional investment. Investors participating in the financing include MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, 6 Degrees Capital (6DC), byFounders, Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd), and a group of angel investors including Ola Tørudbakken (Meta) and Mark Saroufim (Core Auto and GPUMODE).

The new funding allows Verda to accelerate product development across all layers of its AI cloud, from compute capacity to platform services for frontier AI teams in the agentic era. Verda will invest in areas including inference, and plans to multiply its compute capacity over the next year.

“AI is becoming critical infrastructure across industries, and the next few years are a pivotal window for Europe. Our north star is to build the first true tech company in Europe, with AI infrastructure as the starting foundation, and to bring down the carbon footprint of compute worldwide. We’re proud of our progress but are a long way from being done,” said Ruben Bryon, Verda’s founder and CEO.

The announcement comes after the company reached $165 million in annualized revenue run rate in July. Verda recently opened offices in London and San Francisco, and has plans for further expansion across Europe, the United States, and Asia.

“Demand for AI compute is insatiable, and the gap between demand and supply is growing,” said Joe Floyd, General Partner at Emergence Capital. “Verda is moving quickly to secure and scale capacity, with the technology, ambition, and momentum to become a defining AI infrastructure company.”
