Texas-based Airspan Network Holdings is snapping up several fixed-wireless product lines from UK broadband firm Cambium, which filed for administration earlier this month.

Airspan said it had acquired “several fixed wireless product lines serving service providers, defense and critical communications customers from Cambium Networks Ltd.”  

The company didn’t disclose the financial terms of the agreement.

Cambium provides fixed wireless access (FWA), WiFi, switching, and cloud management services to enterprises and Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

This acquisition includes Cambium’s point-to-multipoint access, unlicensed point-to-point backhaul, point-to-point systems for defense applications, millimeter wave point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connectivity, and narrowband communications for industrial environments. It has also acquired Cambium’s management system and planning software.

Airspan confirmed that as part of the acquisition, more than 135 Cambium employees have joined Airspan, spanning sales and support resources in the US, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Africa, plus R&D teams in the US, the UK, and India.

The deal is a lifeline for these Cambium staff after the company, which is the wholly owned UK subsidiary of Cambium Networks Corporation, entered administration earlier this month.

A banner on Cambium’s website states that the company’s affairs are now being handled by administrators David Shambrook, Gordon Thomson, James Woodhead, and Joe Barry, of RSM.
