MásOrange is embarking on a new chapter in Spain under the name Orange España, following the completion of its acquisition of 100 percent of its Spanish JV.

The corporate rebranding comes just over two years after the merger between Orange España and Grupo MásMóvil, which gave rise to MásOrange in 2024. The transaction made the resulting company the largest Spanish operator by customer base.

The new name reflects MásOrange’s integration into the French group and aims to simplify the company’s corporate identity. In June, Orange acquired the remaining 50 percent stake held by Lorca Telecom for €4.25 billion ($4.86bn).

The change affects only the corporate brand. The various commercial brands will continue to operate in Spain, including Orange, Yoigo, Jazztel, MásMóvil, Pepephone, Simyo, Euskaltel, R, and Telecable.

With the transaction complete, Spain gains greater weight within Orange’s international structure. The country is currently the group’s second-largest European market, and Orange will now fully consolidate the results of its Spanish subsidiary.

The company notes that the new identity will allow it to leverage Orange’s brand recognition and simplify its relationships with customers, businesses, government agencies, and investors.

For Orange, the change also reflects a transformation that goes beyond traditional connectivity. The company aims to position itself as a technology leader active in areas such as artificial intelligence, 5G, the cloud, cybersecurity, and advanced digital services.

Orange Spain is embarking on this new phase by highlighting the volume of investment made in the country. The company estimates its cumulative investment in Spain at nearly 50,000 million euros and the number of jobs created—both direct and indirect—at approximately 55,000.

The operator says it will continue to develop fiber and 5G infrastructure and expand its range of digital services in both urban and rural areas.

The name change coincides with the group’s broader strategy to evolve from a traditional telecommunications operator into a technology company.

Orange Spain identifies AI, the cloud, cybersecurity, and digital services as key growth areas, in addition to 5G and fiber networks.

In this context, full integration into Orange provides the Spanish subsidiary with access to the European group’s technological capabilities and investment resources. The company states that the new structure will enable it to strengthen the development of next-generation digital infrastructure and services.
