Copenhagen-based Seed Capital has closed its fifth fund at €130 million, targeting 15–17 seed to Series A startups across the Nordics with initial investments of €3–6 million. The fund will build on the firm’s focus on FinTech and AI-driven B2B, while adding cybersecurity and resilience as a new investment area, and will expand its geographic focus beyond Denmark, with Sweden as a strategic priority. Seed Capital has already deployed Fund V into Fortiv, Moxso, Repodo and Oplane, and is considering opening a Swedish office to support its Nordic expansion.

Seed Capital is a Copenhagen-based venture capital firm focused on investments in early-stage companies, primarily from seed through Series A. Founded in 2006, the firm has historically invested in Danish startups but is expanding its investment activity across the Nordic region with its fifth fund, with Sweden identified as a strategic market.

The firm invests in sectors including FinTech, cybersecurity and resilience, and AI-driven B2B businesses. Its investment approach combines former operators and investment professionals, with the team providing support to portfolio companies alongside its capital. With Fund V, Seed Capital plans to invest in 15–17 companies, typically providing initial checks of between €3 million and €6 million.

“Broadening into the Nordics is a natural extension of the fund model we’ve built over 20 years, combined with bringing our track record and operational experience in FinTech, cybersecurity, and resilience to founders across the region. Staying close to founders is central to how we work and with the Nordics. Here we can be on the ground in under an hour and be there for the founders we partner with,” states Christian Brøndum, Managing Partner

Seed Capital’s portfolio has included companies such as Trustpilot, Lunar, Templafy, VEO and Flatpay. The firm has also begun deploying its €130 million Fund V, with Fortiv, Moxso, Repodo and Oplane among its first investments. As part of its broader Nordic strategy, Seed Capital is also evaluating the possibility of opening an office in Sweden.

Christian Brøndum, former CEO of Planday, steps in as Managing Partner, and Geeta Schmidt, former CEO and Co-Founder of Humio, joins as General Partner, forming the partner team alongside Lars Andersen, who brings more than 20 years of VC experience and has served as GP across all five of Seed Capital’s funds. Together, they reflect the fund’s deliberate hybrid model, a mix of former operators and investment professionals that lets the team meet founders at eye level, drawing on first-hand experience of the challenges founders face, while bringing the strategic focus and investor perspective needed to guide companies through their growth.

Seed Capital’s track record includes Flatpay, Denmark’s fastest unicorn to date, Trustpilot, VEO, Lunar, and Templafy, making it one of the few Nordic seed funds to have delivered noticeable outcomes across its funds.

Cybersecurity and resilience mark a new investment focus for Seed Capital’s fifth fund, reflecting the firm’s conviction that secure software is becoming essential infrastructure as companies build in an era defined by AI.

“There are right now great opportunities at the intersection of security and AI. As companies are building faster with AI, secure software becomes essential and these shifts and solutions we’re seeing are the ones we want to invest in, in Sweden and across the Nordics. Oplane is a great example of the kind of team we’re looking for: deep expertise, a product that is needed, and the ambition to build for where the world is headed,” says Geeta Schmidt, General Partner.

As part of its expansion, Seed Capital is evaluating opening a Swedish office to further strengthen its close-to-founders approach.
