Stilla, a Stockholm-based AI agent platform founded by former Shopify executives, is joining Meta just eight months after launching, in a move aimed at bringing its technology and expertise into Meta’s AI products for businesses. Stilla builds AI agents that can carry out work across an organisation’s tools and workflows, with a focus on shared context, permissions and enterprise-grade infrastructure. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Following the deal, Stilla says its platform will continue operating as a service for existing customers, while its team and technology join Meta to help strengthen the company’s business-focused AI offering.

Founded by former Shopify executives Siavash Ghorbani and Kaj Drobin, Stilla develops an AI agent platform designed for teams and organisations. Its technology connects workplace tools and maintains shared organisational context, allowing AI agents to carry out tasks across business workflows rather than simply generating or summarising information.

Stilla emerged from stealth in January 2026 with $5 million in pre-seed funding led by General Catalyst alongside angel investors including Shopify President Harley Finkelstein, Hugging Face co-founder Thomas Wolf, ElevenLabs CEO Mati Staniszewski, Synthesia CEO Victor Riparbelli, CMO of HubSpot Kieran Flanagan, CEO of Lovable Anton Osika, CEO of Sana Joel Hellermark, CEO of Polar Birk Jernström, Jacob Wallenberg of Ramp, CEO of Legora Max Junestrand, co-founder of Cornershop Oskar Hjertonsson, and CEO of Epidemic Sound Oscar Höglund. . At the time, the company said it would use the funding to develop its infrastructure, expand integrations with workplace software and improve coordination between human teams and AI agents.

The startup’s platform was built around the idea that AI systems need access to the same organisational context as the people they work alongside. It integrates with tools such as Slack, Linear, GitHub and Notion to maintain an up-to-date view of what teams are working on, the decisions behind projects and how work is progressing. The company described this approach as “multiplayer AI” positioning its agents around team-wide rather than individual workflows.

In its acquisition announcement, Stilla said its platform will continue operating for existing customers following the deal. The company said its team and technology will join Meta, with the aim of applying its experience in business-focused AI to Meta’s products.

The acquisition comes as Meta expands its use of AI across its business and messaging products. According to Axios, Stilla’s technology and team are expected to contribute to the development of Meta Business Agent, a system designed to facilitate commercial interactions through WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. Meta also plans to expand its presence in Sweden following the acquisition.

For Stilla, the transaction comes only eight months after the company launched publicly and roughly eight months after announcing its $5 million pre-seed round. The acquisition therefore marks a rapid transition from an early-stage, venture-backed startup into Meta’s AI organisation, although the financial value of the transaction has not been disclosed.
