Telco firm Orange’s Slovakian subsidiary, Orange Slovensko, has signed a ten-year physical Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Austrian power producer Enery.

Under the PPA, Enery will deliver 125,030MWh of power over the agreement’s tenor. The energy will be supplied from a 12.5MW solar plant in the Banska Bystrica region, which sits in the center of the country.

The project is scheduled for commissioning in 2027, and is expected to generate 15GWh on an annual basis. The PPA is the first between the two companies, but is Enery’s third with the Orange group. The company signed two virtual PPAs with Orange Romania in 2024, under which the telco will receive 70,000MWh of power per year.

“Reaching a third corporate PPA with Orange, following two agreements with Orange Romania and now expanding our partnership to Slovakia, reflects the trust built between our companies,” said Severin Vartigov, CCO at Enery. “For us, this is what a successful energy partnership looks like: growing with our customers across markets, while providing long-term access to renewable energy, greater cost visibility, and a tangible pathway to achieving their sustainability ambitions.”

Orange has signed numerous PPAs and power agreements to support its European operations. Most recently, it extended a wind PPA in Poland with EDF until 2035. Orange Polska has also signed a PPA in 2023 with R.Power for more than 600GWh over ten years. Before this, in 2022, it signed a 36MW wind PPA with Enertrag. The company has also signed PPAs in France and Romania over the past two years.

Enery is based in Vienna, Austria, and has approximately 2GW of assets either under construction or in operation. It also has a pipeline of up to 10GW across central and eastern Europe.
