An Underperform report of Bofa Securities impacted on the market capitalization of Nasdaq-listed venture debt firm Runway Growth Finance (-4.9%) whose portfolio has a strong exposure to the AI sector. The current investors’ scepticism for the BDC sector also affected the stock price. In 2026, BDCs debt worth no less than 18 billion US Dollars (2.4 billion in 2023) will come to maturity and expose these firms to a very high risk of refinancing and skyrocketing costs of funding.
