Riga-based startup FitRadar has secured a $150,000 support package from Microsoft for Startups in the form of Azure credits, extending through May 2028, as it accelerates its push to scale a digital platform for sports discovery and community building. FitRadar is building a mobile app that connects users with trainers, athletes, and event organizers, enabling them to discover nearby activities, create and join events, and participate in real-world fitness experiences across more than 55 sports categories on iOS and Android. The Microsoft-backed cloud credits will primarily be used to expand backend infrastructure, improve platform stability, and support upcoming product development as the company moves into its international growth phase across Europe.
FitRadar is building a digital platform designed to connect sports enthusiasts, trainers, and event organizers through one digital platform. The app allows users to discover nearby sports activities, create their own events, build communities around shared interests, and participate in offline training sessions and fitness experiences. Today, the platform supports more than 55 sports and fitness categories and is available on both iOS and Android.
The newly awarded Microsoft support package represents a significant milestone for the company as it moves from product validation toward international growth.
“Our goal is to make discovering sports activities as easy as booking a ride or reserving a table online,” said Andris Žiganovs, co-founder of FitRadar. Microsoft’s support gives us the infrastructure needed to scale that vision across Europe.”
Over the next two years, FitRadar plans to introduce a referral growth system, expand its network of local ambassadors, improve cross-platform event sharing capabilities, and launch AI-powered recommendation features designed to help users discover the most relevant sports activities based on their interests and goals.
The company is also continuing discussions with potential investors as it prepares for its next stage of growth.
While FitRadar’s primary focus remains Europe, the platform has already attracted users beyond Latvia, including Germany, Lithuania, Estonia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
According to the company, hundreds of sports events have already been created through the platform, reflecting growing demand for digital tools that help people find training partners, join local sports communities, and participate in real-world activities.
As the sports and wellness technology sector continues to expand globally, FitRadar aims to position itself as a platform that makes discovering and joining sports activities as simple as booking a ride or reserving a table online.
