Finnish real estate firm Trevian is partnering with European cloud firm Glesys for a new data center in Oulu, Finland.
The companies this week announced a partnership to establish Campus Oulu, a new AI-ready data center campus in Oulu, a city in central Finland and the regional capital of North Ostrobothnia.
The first deployment phase is expected to be ready for service in autumn 2026, supporting an initial IT load of approximately 8MW.
Local press reports the development will be in the Rusko area of Oulu at the former Nokia premises at Kaapelitie 4.
The modular campus reportedly has long-term expansion potential up to 300MW. The facility will support liquid-cooled environments and discussions regarding the use of surplus heat within local energy systems are underway.
“This agreement is an important milestone in Trevian’s broader infrastructure strategy. The combination of existing infrastructure, power availability and scalable development capability creates a highly competitive platform for digital infrastructure operators seeking long-term capacity in the Nordics,” said Reima Södervall, CEO, Trevian. “Together with Glesys, we are building an environment designed to support growing demand for high-performance and energy-efficient digital infrastructure in Finland and across Europe.”
“Campus Oulu allows us to extend our infrastructure capabilities into next-generation AI and high-performance computing while continuing to support our existing customers and services across the Nordics,” added Glenn Johansson, CEO of Glesys. “The project is designed around phased expansion and operational flexibility, allowing infrastructure growth to align closely with customer demand and long-term investment planning.”
Founded in 1999, Glesys provides infrastructure-as-a-service offerings, colocation, dedicated servers, network & connection, system management, and virtual private servers. The company was acquired by investment firm Cube Infrastructure Managers in 2023.
Glesys owns and operates existing data centers in Falkenberg and Stockholm, Sweden; and Oulu (x3), Pori, and Tampere in Finland. The latter two were acquired from Verne last year.
It also has partner facilities in Oslo, Norway, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and London, UK.
Trevian is an independent and management-owned real estate investment and asset management company in Finland, with €1.2bn ($1.4bn) in assets under management. The company first announced plans to invest in the data center space in 2024.
News that the company was looking to develop in Oulo surfaced earlier this year, targeting former Nokia sites in Rusko and Leväsuo.
