Meta has signed a solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Zelestra for 180MW of power from a solar project in Freestone County, Texas.
The deal will see Meta offtake power from the 180MWdc Palmera Solar Plant, bringing the total contracted capacity between the two companies to 1.4GW across eight US projects.
“Meta is committed to bringing new renewable energy to the grid, and our expanding relationship with Zelestra is helping make that possible at scale. These projects aren’t just advancing our energy goals – they’re creating jobs and delivering long-term value in the communities where they operate, and it shows what strong partnerships can achieve,” said Amanda Yang, Meta’s head of Clean and Renewable Energy.
The PPA comes at the same time as Zelestra announced construction milestones on several Meta-linked projects. The Spanish renewable firm reported that it had commenced construction on the 176MWdc Skull Creek Solar Plant in Anderson County, Texas, and the 200MWdc Reclamation Solar Project in Gibson County, Indiana, both backed by Meta PPAs.
“Our partnership with Meta continues to translate ambition into delivery. In just a few months, we have brought Jasper County online, started construction on Skull Creek and Reclamation, and now added Palmera to the portfolio. Together, we are accelerating the delivery of new energy infrastructure that supports Meta’s decarbonization goals while delivering long-term economic value in local communities,” said Phil North, Zelestra’s US CEO.
The companies have also signed four Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements across Hopkins, Lamar, Lampasas, and Henderson Counties in Texas.
Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, Zelestra is a renewable energy developer and independent power producer. In the US market, it operates 15.6GW of renewable energy capacity, with its primary focus on solar and battery storage projects. In June 2024, the company went through a rebrand, changing its name from Solarpack to Zelestra. The company said this was part of a broader move toward a more client-centric approach and a focus on a wider range of renewable technologies.
The latest PPA builds on Meta’s expanding renewable portfolio in the Lone Star state. Last month, the company signed a 200MW PPA in Texas with Desri. Before this, it inked a long-term PPA with Origis Energy to offtake power from a 303MWdc solar project in Texas.
