CamGraPhIC, an UK startup subsidiary of Italy’s 2D Photonics that provides graphene-based optical interconnects for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing systems, received the approval of the European Commission for getting a 211 million euros financing facility from the Italian Government (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The Italian company previously received 25 million from CDP Venture Capital, NATO Innovation Fund (NIF), Sony Innovation Fund, Join Capital, Bosch Ventures, Frontier IP Group, and Indaco Venture. In 2018, Andrea Ferrari, the head of Cambridge Graphene Centre, and cso Marco Romagnoli, the director of CNIT Research Advanced Technologies for Photonic Integration, founded CamGraPhIC which precedently attracted 2.7 milion GBPs from Frontier IP Group.
