The aggregate value of the companies brokered volume is worth in the region of 320 billion US Dollars
NYSE-listed Compass Inc, the largest US residential brokerage firm whose 2023 turnover amounted to 185 billion US Dollars (RealTrends), aims to acquire the competitor HomeServices of America from Berkshire Hathaway Inc, Warren Buffet’s firm, The Wall Street Journal and Barron’s reported.
Compass has a market capitalization in the region of 4.7 billion US Dollars, more than 300 and 30000 agents in USA.
In 2023, HomeServices of America ranked fourth as US Realtor with brokered deals worth 134 billion US Dollars, RealTrends says. The aggregate turnover of Compass and the potential target would be almost twice as large as the nearest competitor in terms of brokered volumes.In 2023, Compass generated sales of 5.6 billion US Dollars, while HomeServices revenues amounted to 4.4 billion.
In 2024, Compass acquired Christie’s International Real Estate with a 444 million deal. The target has a network of more than 100 domestic and international independent associates in 50 countries and areas. Compass also purchased @properties, the eighth largest residential brokerage in the United States, with operations in Greater Chicago, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Metro Atlanta (with the brand Ansley Real Estate) (press release).
