Oslo-based Installer today announces a €3.8 million Seed round to supercharge the deployment of renewable technologies by transforming the installation process.
The funding round was led by Brighteye Ventures, alongside PT1, Futurum, and Sondo.
“Our mission is to speed up the deployment of renewable technologies by eliminating hurdles,” says Installer CEO Gunnar W. Sem. “We provide companies with instant access to skilled installers, allowing them to scale fast and cost-efficiently.“
Founded by Kristoffer Gjerde, Thomas Kristiansen, and Gunnar Windsand Sem in 2022, Installer accelerates the deployment and maintenance of climate tech assets like EV chargers, solar panels and heat pumps, reportedly halving operating expenses for their clients and expanding access to renewable energy jobs for installers.
Installer compare their efforts to “building Shopify for the renewable asset supply chain“. Whilst many companies are busy inventing the next ground-breaking EV charger, battery or heat pump, over 70% of customers consider installation a crucial part of their product experience (according to Installer).
Installer looks to optimise the complex, labour-intensive installation and maintenance process via a data-driven, AI-enhanced platform that seamlessly matches jobs with installer companies. Serving as a backend infrastructure, it powers collaboration by integrating smart job dispatch, tailored processes, and a digital, white-labelled end-customer experience. The in-platform AI reduces the workload for installers and ensures they receive the proper training to handle the renewable assets well.
Operating in stealth mode until now, Installer has already developed partnerships with industry leaders across 21 markets — partnering with Easee, an EV charging solutions provider; Sungrow, a leader in photovoltaic systems, batteries, and EV charging; Coop, Norway’s largest heat pump provider, installing over 10,000 units annually; and Tibber, European energy provider and renewable hardware innovator.
“Our goal is to become the leading platform for installer collaboration,” says Sem. “By partnering with other amazing companies that produce and sell innovative products, we can collectively push these technologies to reach consumers more efficiently.”
The Seed round has fuelled the assembly of a 17-strong team, including talent from renowned companies like Kahoot!, Oda, McKinsey, Tesla, and Easee. With this funding and a dedicated team, Installerplans to expand its presence in key European markets – including Scandinavia, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and France.
The company is also gearing up to establish traction in the U.S. over the next 12 to 18 months.
“The U.S. is on the cusp of a renewable surge, and we’re excited to contribute to that momentum, especially as policy changes could further accelerate adoption,” notes Sem.
