Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised MidEuropa on the €1.3 billion sale of Profi Rom Food (Profi) to Ahold Delhaize, a Dutch-Belgian listed multinational retail and wholesale holding company.
“This is the largest ever private equity grocery sale in continental Europe,” said White & Case partner Ken Barry, who co-led the Firm’s deal team. “This transaction marks the third sale we have advised MidEuropa on this year, demonstrating our expertise advising on high-value private equity deals throughout the region.”
Profi is the leading chain of supermarket and convenience stores in Romania, with more than 1,600 locations. It has been under the ownership of MidEuropa since 2017.
MidEuropa is central Europe’s largest private equity firm and has a successful track record spanning more than 20 years, with over €6 billion assets under management and 45 businesses backed to date.
