Italian mid-market private equity firm Quadrivio sgr bought Graphic plc, a British manufacturer of high technology printed circuit boards, Orsingher Ortu Avvocati Associati law firm said in a press release as the firm advised Graphic for the deal.
“The acquisition represents an add-on deal in the same industrial sector of the recent acquisition of Italian company Somacis by Quadrivio itself”, the press release said.
Graphic and Somacis had been working together for some years in China where they founded a 50%-50% joint venture called Dongguan Sovmacis Graphic PCB. And Graphic just entered in Somacis’s capital with a minority stake when Quadrivio sgr’s fund bought a 52% stake in Somacis last February (see here a previous post by BeBeez), while a 35% stake is still retained by the founder family.
Founded by Attilio Scalmati and headquartered in Castelfidardo (Ancona), Somacis is a manufacturer of high technology printed circuit boards especially for aerospace, medical and infrastructure sectors and in 2015 reached about 110 million euros in revenues. Somacis has been valued about 100 million euros.
This is the second investment for Quadrivio sgr’s third private equity fund which announced the first closing of the fundraising last March reaching 130 million euros on a 300 million euros target. This is Quadrivio’s first deal abroad.
