European Edge data center firm nLighten has acquired a data center in Paris, France.
The I Squared Capital-owned firm this week announced the acquisition of a data center in the Émerainville area of the capital from oXya, a French managed services provider.
Terms of the deal were not shared.
Located to the east of Paris, approximately 1km (0.6 miles) from nLighten’s existing PAR1 facility, the site will continue serving oXya as an anchor customer under a long-term master services agreement. Additional capacity will be made available to enterprise customers via channel partners.
OXya’s data center in Émerainville, in the Île‑de‑France region, is located at 12 Rue Vladimir Jankelevitch. The facility reportedly offers around 1,000 sqm (10,765 sqm) of technical space.
Harro Beusker, CEO and co-founder of nLighten, said: “The acquisition of this Paris data center represents a significant expansion of our French footprint and strengthens our position in one of Europe’s most dynamic digital infrastructure markets. Paris is a critical hub for regional connectivity, and this facility enables us to deliver enhanced capacity and resilience to our enterprise customers.”
“The proximity to our existing Paris sites creates operational synergies while also allowing us to support dual-site deployments. This acquisition exemplifies our strategy of building smart, sustainable infrastructure that scales with customer needs and contributes to the digital transformation of European businesses.”
Founded in 1998, oXya is focused on providing SAP services and support, and has more than 400 enterprise customers. It also provides managed cloud services. The company was acquired by Hitachi Group in 2015, then by Montefiore Investment in 2023. Data Center Map lists two other data center sites from the company, in Loos near Lille and Couëron near Nantes.
Christophe Bronner, group CFO of oXya, added: “We are pleased to see this data center continue its evolution thanks to the partnership with nLighten. This transition allows oXya to focus on its core business of delivering managed cloud services and consulting to our customers, while ensuring continuity and enhanced capabilities for our infrastructure needs. We believe nLighten’s expertise and commitment to sustainable operations will benefit both our organization and the broader customer community.”
The acquisition brings nLighten’s French portfolio to eight facilities and more than 30 in total across Europe. It has two existing sites in Paris (PAR1 and PAR2), in Lognes and Aubervilliers, acquired from Euclyde and Exa, respectively.
Anwar Saliba, managing director of nLighten France, said: “This acquisition fully aligns with our ambition to build a distributed, locally operated digital infrastructure across France. By adding capacity in the Paris region through three interconnected sites, we provide our customers with the conditions needed to deploy more resilient architectures, better secure their data, and meet growing requirements in terms of performance, service continuity, and digital sovereignty. Proximity is therefore becoming a concrete driver of sustainable digital transformation in France.”
Regional Edge operator nLighten, owned by I Squared Capital’s ISQ Global Infrastructure Fund III, launched in 2024.
The company launched after acquiring ten initial data centers in Germany from Exa Infrastructure (another I Squared Capital company), later acquiring another seven across Europe from the fiber firm. The company then acquired French operator Euclyde Data Centers, taking over six facilities across the country. After acquiring a Dutch data center in Amsterdam, nLighten then acquired UK Edge firm Proximity in September, taking over a further ten facilities.
