US giant Advent International said it closed a 30 billion US Dollars fundraising for its global private equity platform and will allocate 27 billion to its eleventh flagship fund Advent International GPE XI which exceeded the initial target of 26 billion. Advent Mid-Market Private Equity will have available 3 billion (press release).
Long-standing investors and new subscribers, including public and private pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, institutional managers, family offices and high-net-worth private investors supported this fundraising.
In 2022, flagship fund GPE X hit the hard cap of 25 billion US Dollars in less than six months. GPE XI is the largest buyout fund to have completed its fundraising ytd. This achievement comes at a time when international fundraising remains challenging (see here a previous post by BeBeez).
In the first ten months of 2026, Advent realised approximately 13 billion US dollars from divestments relating to 27 companies, making the current year one of the best in its history in terms of realised value. During the same period, investments – including transactions announced but not yet completed – totalled approximately 10 billion US dollars across 38 companies, including both new portfolio additions and further investments in existing portfolio companies.
The new fund will maintain the global strategy of its predecessors, with the flexibility to invest across different geographical regions, sectors and types of transactions. The primary focus will remain on Europe and North America, but Advent will continue to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America. Investments will focus on five sectors: business services and financial services, consumer, healthcare, industrials and technology. The fund manager will also continue to prioritise complex transactions, including the acquisition of divisions from large groups (corporate carve-outs) and the delisting of publicly traded companies (public-to-private).
The fund will receive the support of above 290 investment professionals as part of an organisation of more than 635 people and 18 offices across five continents.
Advent Mid-Market Private Equity, the group’s first vehicle for smaller buyouts and growth deals, will mainly invest equity tickets of 100 – 350 million US dollars in targets with an enterprise value of up to 1.25 billion US dollars mainly based in North America and Europe.
John Maldonado, managing partner and co-chair of Advent executive committee, said: “Our strength lies in continuing to deepen the sector-specific expertise that always set us apart, whilst expanding our fund platform and introducing new ideas and technologies at every stage of our investments”.
James Brocklebank, co-chair of the executive committee, added: “Our experience of over 40 years in the investment sector taught us that working with outstanding management teams to build sustainable businesses leads to excellent results. The trust our investors have placed in us, in one of the most challenging environments for raising capital, reflects the consistency of our track record and the discipline with which we return capital to investors”.
The reference to distributions takes on particular significance in the current phase of the private equity sector, in which the slowdown in exits has reduced the liquidity available for new commitments from institutional investors.
On 9 September, Wednesday, Advent delisted from Milan market Italian cybersecurity company Tinexta with the support of Nextalia (see here a previous post by BeBeez).
On 29 June, Monday, Advent said it sold Irca to CVC Capital Partners (see here a previous post by BeBeez). In February 2026, Advent, Bain Capital and Clessidra completed their exit from Milan-listed Nexi (see here a previous post by BeBeez).
