AI cloud firm CoreWeave has launched new compute capacity in Denmark and announced plans to expand its connectivity backbone.
CoreWeave leases data center capacity in Denmark
The Nasdaq-listed company this week announced it had brought the majority of its planned 22.5MW of IT capacity online at atNorth’s DEN01 data center in Copenhagen.
CoreWeave’s first deployment in Denmark, atNorth has a heat reuse agreement in place to supply surplus heat from DEN01 to the area’s local district heating network.
“Modern workloads demand digital infrastructure that is not only high performance, but also energy efficient and responsibly operated,” said Eyjólfur Magnús Kristinsson, CEO at atNorth. “By partnering with atNorth, CoreWeave gains access to DEN01’s infrastructure, designed for GPU-intensive processing, while supporting renewable energy development through power purchase agreements and helping warm local homes through heat reuse, contributing to the green transition.”
Located in Ballerup, greater Copenhagen, atNorth’s DEN01 offers 30MW across 27,730 sqm. Announced in 2023, the first phase went live in Q4 2025 following a swift 12-month build. The liquid-cooled facility offers densities of 100kW per rack.
Across Europe, CoreWeave is leasing capacity in Sweden (x2), Norway, Denmark, Spain (x3), and the UK (x2).
CoreWeave grows its global backbone
On the network side, CoreWeave said it was extending its global AI network backbone with new points of presence in the United Arab Emirates, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, Korea, and Japan.
These nodes will go live beginning later in the fourth quarter of 2026 and extending to a full loop in mid-2027.
The expansion extends CoreWeave’s existing network across North America and Europe to four continents.
“Our customers need more than access to computing capacity. They need infrastructure that performs reliably at scale and the ability to move data and workloads wherever their business requires,” said Sachin Jain, chief operating officer of CoreWeave. “We’re expanding our global infrastructure and the network connecting it together, so customers can focus on building and improving AI rather than managing the complexity underneath it.”
CoreWeave said its backbone combines multiple 400 gigabit-per-second connections at each point of presence, hardware-based MACsec encryption to protect data in transit, and redundant network paths.
CoreWeave said that as of June 2026, it operated 51 data centers worldwide with more than 1.5GW of active power, with approximately 4.2GW of contracted power as of its August 11, 2026 earnings call.
