Oslo-based cybersecurity company Pistachio has acquired the intellectual property of Norwegian cyber-risk management platform Hugin.io, expanding its focus from human risk management into cybersecurity compliance. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Pistachio develops AI-driven security awareness and insider-risk tools that use employee behaviour and role-based data to support organisations in addressing threats such as phishing and social engineering. Hugin.io develops cybersecurity management tools for small and medium-sized businesses, including software for assessing security posture and managing compliance requirements. Hugin’s technology will be integrated into Pistachio’s platform, with a new compliance product planned for launch in 2027.
Pistachio develops software focused on human risk in cybersecurity, helping organisations address issues such as phishing, social engineering and insider threats. Its platform provides automated security-awareness training and simulations that adapt to employees and their behaviour. The company says it now serves more than 1,000 customers, mainly across Europe.
Hugin.io, founded in 2023, developed cybersecurity management software for small and medium-sized businesses. Its technology was designed to help companies assess their security posture, identify gaps and manage cybersecurity requirements without relying on extensive manual processes.
Pistachio will incorporate Hugin.io’s technology into its own platform and plans to introduce a new compliance product in 2027. The planned product will cover areas including security-posture management, as well as tools for managing devices and applications. It is expected to support organisations working with standards and regulations such as ISO 27001, NIS2, SOC 2 and DORA.
The acquisition adds compliance management to Pistachio’s existing focus on human risk. Rather than operating as a standalone Hugin.io product, the acquired technology will become part of Pistachio’s broader cybersecurity offering. Hugin.io’s operations and intellectual property will therefore be folded into Pistachio ahead of the planned 2027 launch.
