Yamna signs land reservation agreement at Brazil’s Port of Açu

Yamna has signed a land reservation agreement at the Port of Açu in Brazil.

The agreement is part of the company’s plans to develop large-scale data center projects across multiple jurisdictions.

The agreement secures an initial 20-hectare plot in the Port of Açu industrial complex, 280km (173.9 miles) northeast of Rio de Janeiro, with a right of first refusal to expand by an additional 20 hectares.

The site will support a hyperscale, AI-ready data center campus with an initial capacity of 250MW in Phase 1, with the potential to scale up over time.

Yanma is an energy- and digital infrastructure-focused development and investment company based in London, UK. The firm is largely focused on green ammonia projects and moved into data centers earlier this year, targeting a project in Oman. It aims to combine the sites with battery storage.

According to Abdelaziz Yatribi, CEO of Yanma, securing the site at the Port of Açu represents an important milestone in the expansion of the company’s digital infrastructure platform, positioning the company to deliver AI-ready hyperscale capacity. He stated that the combination of expertise in development, energy, and infrastructure—coupled with local partnerships and disciplined execution—enables rapid progress from the development phase to delivery, creating an attractive opportunity for future partners and customers.

The Açu port complex has been in operation since 2014. The port currently has 22 companies installed within it and 11 private terminals.

Eugênio Figueiredo, CEO of the Port of Açu, added that Yamna’s decision reaffirms the company’s confidence in the port’s assets and its long-term development vision. He said the port offers competitive advantages for this type of project, such as land availability, water from multiple sources, clean energy connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN), and the potential for subsea cable connectivity, which places it among the most attractive locations in Brazil for investments in digital infrastructure.

Brazilian logistics firm Prumo has previously outlined plans to develop data centers at the port complex.

As a next step, Yamna is expected to proceed with development activities aimed at reducing project risks and accelerating delivery timelines.
