Zurich-listed giant Nestlé fetched 3 billion euros (2.8 billion CHF) after having launched Peranel, a joint venture with an enterprise value of 4.9 billion euros (4.5 billion CHF) of which Platinum Equity is an even partner. Muriel Lienau, the ceo of Nestlé Waters, will head the Paris-based newco that will manage Nestlé Pure Life, S.Pellegrino, Perrier, Acqua Panna, Levissima (press release). Previous press items reported about such negotiations (see here a previous post by BeBeez). This carve-out requires regulatory approval and its closing may take place in 1H27.
Peranel will benefit of a high rate of flexibility to invest in its own brands and pursue growth opportunities. The company has an in-house R&D team that contributed to 120 product launches since 2022 and developed a robust product development pipeline.
Philipp Navratil, Nestlé ceo, said: “The partnership with Platinum Equity will allow Peranel to implement its strategy with greater agility and a sharper focus on its long-term growth ambitions while strengthening this unique portfolio of international and local brands through ongoing investment in innovation, premiumisation, operational excellence and sustainability”.
Louis Samson, co-chairman of Platinum Equity, added: “We are delighted for this partnership with Nestlé ahead of taking the next steps together. We bring unique energy and vision, as well as commercial and operational expertise. The joint venture combination of Nestlé and Peranel world-class development, execution and marketing capabilities creates a strong partnership and a highly valuable team. We have great respect for Peranel brands, the people behind them, and the customers and communities they serve. We will draw on our extensive experience in building and supporting independent businesses to generate long-term value.”
Igor Chacartegui, managing director of Platinum Equity, said: “Peranel has an extraordinary portfolio of iconic brands that global consumers recognise and love. We look forward to working alongside Nestlé, Muriel and her team to expand Peranel’s reach and support its continued organic growth. We will also bring our expertise in mergers and acquisitions to help consolidate and strengthen Peranel’s existing portfolio.”
Previous press items said that lending banks are working on supporting private equity with financing facilities worth 2-3 billion euros, or 4-6X the Nestlè Waters expected 500 million euros ebitda (see here a previous post by BeBeez). In June 2026, Bloomberg reported that Nestlé was negotiating only with Platinum Equity, a firm with assets worth 48 billion US Dollars and a relevant track record of careva-out deals with consumer and industrial companies that Tom Gores founded in 1995.
Platinum previously invested in Biscuit International and dairy producer Horizon Organic. In 2024, Platinum acquired the majority of F.lli Polli, an Italian manufacturer of preserves, olives, pickles, condiments, and sauces (see here a previous post by BeBeez) and in 2020 purchased Farnese Vini and rebranded it as Fantini Group (see here a previous post by BeBeez). In 2019, Platinum Equity acquired De Wave, a manufactured of interiors and furnishings for large yachts and cruise ships (see here a previous post by BeBeez).
In 2015, Gores acquired with his own resources NBA team Detroit Pistons.
