German engine manufacturer for the maritime sector, Everllence, has launched a new backup generator set for the data center market.

The 175D high-speed engine supplies 2.4MWe of standby power and is expressly designed with the data center in mind, the company says.

“Demand for data centers is rising rapidly, driven in particular by the growing use of AI, which increases the need for a reliable power supply. The 175D GenSet delivers this reliability based on our proven in-house high‑speed engine of the same name,” said Alexander Stöckler, head of power segment at Everllence.

The engines are manufactured in Germany and Denmark, with all the key components also built in-house. The company claims that the gen set can be flexibly integrated into containerized solutions and is designed for a grid frequency of 50Hz. Everllence also said that the generator’s electrically powered cooling system makes it suitable for a range of environmental conditions, allowing for widespread global deployments.

“The 175D GenSet technical platform is based on more than 15 years of experience in high‑speed engine development. We are now expanding the range of applications of this proven technology to data center operations,” said Tobias Kappelmann-Münch, senior project manager highspeed and project manager of data centers.

The company also noted that the genset complies with NOx emission limits in line with US Environmental Protection Agency Tier II and supports alternative fuels, including HVO and methanol.

Everllence is headquartered in Augsburg, Germany, and specializes in propulsion, power generation, and low-carbon technologies such as heat pumps and carbon capture. In 2026, Bain Capital acquired a majority stake in the company from the Volkswagen Group, which retained a minority stake in the firm.
