An Equinix-occupied data center in Manchester, UK, has reportedly been sold to a new landlord.
Place North West reports Schroders Capital has acquired the Equinix-leased facility from Invesco.
The facility was reportedly on the market earlier this year for £15.35 million ($20.5m). The site was reportedly marketed as a “network critical” facility and one of the “most modern and technically advanced” data centers in Manchester.
Equinix operates the two-story, 3MW facility at its MA3 data center, offering around 30,000 sq ft (2,787 sqm) of technical space and able to offer densities of up to 20kW per rack. Equinix lists the facility as leased in its latest earnings presentation.
The building, known as Joule House, is located at 76 Trafford Wharf Road in the Trafford Park area of Stretford. The site was launched in 2012 by Telecity, with the firm acquired by Equinix around 2016.
Invesco sought to offload the asset on behalf of St. James’s Place, as the latter firm winds down its property funds.
Orchard Street Investment Management, on behalf of St. James’s Place, acquired the data center in 2012 from Peel Land and Property Investments plc (part of the Peel Group) for £7.6 million. Telecity had a 13-year lease remaining on the facility at the time of that sale.
CBRE advised Invesco, and Aquira Real Estate advised Schroders.
Equinix operates three other data centers – MA1, MA4, and MA5 – around Manchester. The firm exited MA2 at Reynolds House in 2023.
