US data center firm Edged has topped out its latest facility in Chicago, Illinois.
The company this week announced it had completed structural work on its second facility at its Chicago campus, located at 2835 Bilter Road in Aurora.
The ORD01-2 data center, which is already fully pre-leased, will deliver 72MW. It is due live in Q2 2027.
The single-story facility will include waterless closed-loop cooling – supplied by sister company ThermalWorks. The company says it can support up to 120kW per rack with air cooling and 400kW per rack with liquid cooling.
“As demand for AI infrastructure accelerates, speed, efficiency, and sustainability must advance together,” said Mitch Fonseca, COO of Edged US. “Reaching this milestone in Aurora reflects the strength of our partnerships, the dedication of our construction teams, and our commitment to delivering high-performance infrastructure designed for the future of compute. We’re proud to continue investing in the Chicago region with infrastructure that supports innovation while dramatically reducing environmental impact.”
The first 24MW facility on the Edged Chicago campus opened in February 2025. The campus will total 96MW across 65 acres at full build-out.
Edged (formerly Edged Energy) is part of Endeavour, which was set up by Aligned founder Jakob Carnemark. The company has data centers either operating or in development in Bilbao, Madrid, and Barcelona in Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; and across the US, including Missouri, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Iowa, Ohio, and Illinois.
