Helsinki-based AI infrastructure company Verda raises €100 million, plans to hire 100+ people by year-end

Verda (formerly DataCrunch), a Helsinki-based AI infrastructure company, has raised €100 million ($117 million) in new funding to develop its AI cloud infrastructure and international expansion.

The round comprises equity funding led by Lifeline Ventures with participation from byFounders, Tesi, Varma, and other investors, alongside debt financing from a group of Nordic financial institutions.

“We’re building the next generation of AI cloud infrastructure for pioneering teams across the globe. This funding allows us to double down on development and accelerate our expansion across Europe, the US and Asia. We’re seeing very strong momentum and we’re excited for what’s ahead,” said Ruben Bryon, founder and CEO of Verda.

Founded in 2020 by Ruben Bryon, Verda is building an AI cloud infrastructure that allows developers and organisations to access high-performance compute on demand and at scale without the friction of traditional cloud procurement.

The company claims that it handles everything from physical servers and data centres to the tools and services teams use to build AI. Its data centres in Finland run on 100% renewable energy, drawing on the Nordics’ natural advantages in clean electricity and cooling efficiency.

Last year, in November, DataCrunch rebranded to Verda. “The name Verda is derived from the Spanish word for ‘true’ and the Esperanto word for ‘green’. The name change symbolises and reinforces our values of technological integrity and sustainable innovation,” mentioned the company.

Explaining why Verda should be chosen over a traditional hyperscaler, the company stated that it makes it easy to access production-grade GPU resources, with higher availability of AI-optimised systems such as HGX servers, all at affordable prices. It further notes that there are no sales hurdles or delays to get started running an AI workload, and it provides a developer-first experience through its cloud dashboard and APIs. In many cases, customers will also be able to save up to 90% compared to hyperscalers, claims Verda.

Verda reports that its operations are already cash flow positive, with revenue run rate doubling to over €51.3 million ($60 million) during the first quarter of 2026. The company is one of a select group of NVIDIA Preferred Partners globally, and it works with brands such as Nokia, 1X, ExpressVPN, and Freepik, among others.

“A big part of our success comes from being vertically integrated, handling everything from physical infrastructure to the application layer. We have a dedicated AI Lab team that works directly with customers and uses those insights to drive our product decisions. We’re proud of what we’ve built so far, but we know we’re only just getting started,” Bryon added.

With this fresh funding, the company plans to accelerate the development of its AI cloud infrastructure and international expansion. The company plans to hire over 100 people and launch in new markets this year, including the UK and the US, to meet growing demand.

Last year, in September, the company raised a total of €55 million in a Series A round led by byFounders, Skaala, Varma pension fund, and Tesi. In 2024, it raised a €12 million Seed funding round.
