A new Nordic data center firm has been launched by two former CEOs of Norwegian operator Green Mountain.

Heim Datacenter has launched, with plans to develop data centers in Finland and Sweden.

The company was set up by Tor Kristian Gyland, who was CEO of Green Mountain from 2017 until 2023, and Svein Atle Hagaseth, who was CEO of the same company from 2023 to 2026.

“Based on our experience from Norway, and after assessing markets across Europe, we landed on the Nordics as the right region to build from, with Finland and Sweden as our first priority markets,” Heim said on LinkedIn. “Not because the Nordics are one market, and not because every location works. But because we believe Finland and Sweden currently offer some of the strongest conditions in Europe for developing the next generation of digital infrastructure, if approached with the right experience, discipline, and local understanding.”

On its website, Heim lists plans for a facility in West Sweden, another in West Finland, and one around the Finnish capital area.

The first phase of the Sweden West site will offer 30MW, eventually reaching 300MW in 2029 across 200,000 sqm. The Finland West campus will initially offer 100MW, scaling to 130MW by 2028 across 100,000 sqm. The Finland Capital project will initially offer 50MW, scaling to 150MW by 2030 across 140,000 sqm.

Details on company ownership or funding have not been shared.
