Spain’s Sateliot seeks €100 million to accelerate deployment of its 5G satellite network

Barcelona-based Sateliot, a 5G satellite connectivity operator, has announced the launch of a new Series C financing round for €100 million to deploy its 5G constellation of 16 satellites.

This round, primarily structured as equity with the possibility of incorporating an additional debt component, has just opened, and the company expects to close it in summer. In addition, it anticipates up to 50% public co-financing via match funding.

This follows its €70 million Series B in March 2025 – as covered by EU-Startups.

Jaume Sanpera, CEO of Sateliot, says: “This Series C reflects the company’s scale and timing. It is the largest round we have opened to date. With it, we will accelerate the deployment of our constellation and commercial execution on a global scale. We trust in the support of industrial, financial, and institutional investors to consolidate a European 5G satellite connectivity infrastructure.”

In the context of recent European SpaceTech and adjacent infrastructure funding, Sateliot’s new €100 million Series C would rank among the larger rounds reported in 2025–2026, particularly in satellite connectivity and orbital infrastructure.

Alongside Sateliot’s own earlier €70 million Series B, comparable announcements include France’s Look Up, which raised €50 million to expand its radar-based space traffic management services; London-based Spaceflux, which secured €6.1 million to scale its satellite-tracking network; Spain’s Kreios Space, which raised €8 million to develop propulsion technology and launch its first satellites, making it a notable same-country comparison; Germany’s Reflex Aerospace, which secured €50 million to scale sovereign satellite platforms and manufacturing; France’s U-Space, which raised €24 million to support industrial ramp-up and international expansion; and France’s Infinite Orbits, which secured €40 million for satellite servicing growth.

Taken together, those comparable rounds amount to roughly €178.1 million; including Sateliot’s March 2025 Series B brings the total to about €248.1 million.

Óscar López, Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Administration of Spain, who was present at this announcement, adds: “Since then, Sateliot has doubled its workforce, closed €270 million in precontracts with companies in several countries worldwide, signed agreements with operators such as Telefónica, Deutsche Telekom, and VIVO in Brazil, and received the ‘Future Unicorn’ award from the Digital Europe association. Sateliot is an example of Spanish and European digital sovereignty. The Government of Spain is proud to finance a Catalan project that integrates the entire cycle of design, assembly, and control of satellites made in Spain.”

Founded in 2018, Sateliot deployed the first LEO satellite constellation under the 3GPP standard, which allows unmodified commercial NB-IoT devices to connect directly from space. Its technology integrates terrestrial and satellite networks to offer affordable global 5G connectivity in remote areas and locations without conventional infrastructure.

Since its founding, Sateliot has raised nearly €100 million, supported by a block of industrial, institutional, and financial investors such as Indra, Cellnex, the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), Sepides (SEPI), Hyperion, Global Portfolio Investments, and Banco Santander, as well as backing from the European Investment Bank (EIB), which financed the initial deployment of its technology and the company’s growth.

As a strategic actor for European digital sovereignty, Sateliot says they promote secure, global, and accessible connectivity and plans to launch the next-generation Tritó satellites in 2027.

If raised, the capital will be mainly allocated to the deployment of 16 satellites that will complete the IoT use case and serve as a demonstrator for the 5G New Radio technology incorporating voice, video, and data.

Sateliot has already launched six satellites and plans to launch five more in 2026.

Sateliot approaches this capital increase with precontracts valued at €270 million, with over 400 clients in 60 countries, in addition to agreements with operators such as Telefónica and Deutsche Telekom.
