Bondstone, a Lisbon-based private equity firm with a proven track record in real estate development, investment, and asset management, has launched its venture capital platform, Bondstone Ventures, alongside its inaugural fund, Maxwell Technologies I, which focuses on DeepTech.
Bondstone Ventures operates as a fund management company authorised and supervised by the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), providing a fully regulated platform for venture capital investment. It concentrates on investing in DeepTech and other transformative technologies throughout Southern Europe, with selective coverage across the wider European region.
The firm’s first VC fund will invest in Seed and early-stage financing rounds, targeting €50 million in commitments from a diversified institutional investor base.
“Bondstone Ventures represents a natural extension of our investment philosophy and values. Europe stands at a pivotal moment, where economic realignment, technological acceleration, and shifting geopolitical dynamics are converging to create extraordinary opportunities. With this new division, we are positioned to back transformative, tech-driven European companies capable of redefining industries and shaping the future,” said Paulo Loureiro, founder and CEO of Bondstone.
Founded in 2016, Bondstone is a private equity firm with expertise in real estate investment and venture capital, managing and developing assets across multiple sectors in Europe. Since its inception, it has built a diversified portfolio with a gross development value exceeding €1 billion.
Its real estate business invests and oversees capital within the Portuguese property market. It manages the complete investment lifecycle, including deal sourcing and investment structuring to development and asset management: across residential, logistics, hospitality, and mixed-use projects.
Its venture capital business supports Europe’s most promising DeepTech companies at the Seed and early-stage. It invests in breakthrough technologies across artificial intelligence, computational biology, ClimateTech, and enabling technologies, providing founders with both capital and domain expertise to scale globally. Both management firms operate as regulated investment management firms under CMVM oversight.
“The launch of Bondstone Ventures marks a defining milestone for Bondstone as we expand our investment platform into new frontiers and position ourselves at the centre of Europe’s innovation ecosystem. By combining deep expertise in both finance and science, we offer a distinctive value proposition to entrepreneurs pioneering technologies that will shape the next era of innovation,” said João Pedro Silva, Partner at Bondstone Ventures.
Alongside its investment efforts, Bondstone Ventures is also forging strong links with the scientific and academic communities, the firm revealed. The firm is forming incentive-aligned partnerships with top science and engineering universities, establishing collaborative frameworks that facilitate close cooperation among researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors. These partnerships aim to speed up the commercialisation of scientific innovations while ensuring that academic institutions, researchers, and venture investors stay aligned in the long-term success of the technologies developed.
Bondstone has a multidisciplinary team of 20 professionals combines experience across asset classes, sectors, and investment strategies. Both Paulo Loureiro and João Pedro Silva have an academic background in physics before moving into finance.
Loureiro previously served as Executive Director at Morgan Stanley in New York and as an engineer with Schlumberger in Latin America. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Silva is a CFA charterholder and brings a decade of experience in banking, private equity, real estate, and venture capital across leading European investment firms.
To strengthen its investment and scientific capabilities, Bondstone Ventures is supported by venture partners with operational and scaling expertise, including executives who have held leadership roles at global technology companies. One such partner is Luis Teixeira, a global business leader and advisor with more than 20 years of experience across technology, ecommerce, and fashion.
