Adam Lawrence with Alison Dowsett, of Berkeley

London Square founder Adam Lawrence has been awarded the RDAS Golden Brick, which recognises individuals who have made a notable contribution to the residential development sector.

The Residential Development Agents Society (RDAS) is a networking forum for agents involved in residential development land and property. Established in 1995, it has around 500 members and supports knowledge sharing, learning, and networking within the sector.

Lawrence began his career at Barratt Homes, where he became regional chair for London and the Thames Valley, before founding London Square in 2010 to focus on opportunities in the London residential property market.

Since its launch, London Square has delivered multi-tenure mixed-use schemes, including the redevelopment of the Star and Garter Building on Richmond Hill and the former Royal Mail site in Nine Elms. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lawrence also established the registered provider Square Roots, which aims to deliver more than 10,000 affordable homes in London over the next decade.

London Square employs almost 300 staff and, since its acquisition by Aldar in late 2023, has expanded further. The company currently manages 25 live schemes delivering more than 5,600 homes, around 40% of which are affordable, across 17 London boroughs.

Lawrence said: “Receiving this recognition from my peers in the industry is an incredible honour. However, this award really belongs to the team that have worked so hard alongside me to make London Square what it is today. We are very privileged to have the opportunity to contribute to London’s success and I look forward to supporting everyone at London Square and Square Roots through the next chapter of our growth.”

Adrian Owen, head of residential, Montagu Evans and interim chair of RDAS, commented “Adam’s career achievements embody everything this award celebrates and he joins an illustrious list of outstanding leaders in our sector that have between them been responsible for the delivery of a significant percentage of London’s homes. What stands out for me in particular is how Adam pivoted quickly during and just after the GFC to building a highly successful development business yet again – brave and not without risk but that embodies the man in my view.”
Sophie Wellesley-Wood, director JLL and chair of RDAS (maternity leave) added: “I am so glad that Adam has been recognised with this year’s Golden Brick; his entrepreneurial spirit, positivity and vision for what is possible are an inspiration for so many in the industry.”
