Spanish data center firm Templus has completed the acquisition of three Grupo Aire data centers in Lisbon, Madrid, and Valencia.
The deal adds 6.5 MW of capacity to the Templus platform. Terms were not shared.
Nacho Velilla, CEO of Templus, highlighted the significance of the deal for the company, which expands the firm’s existing footprint in the Spanish market, allowing entry into Portugal.
He said: “This agreement reinforces Templus’ commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence, and consolidates a long-term relationship with a leading operator in connectivity and cloud.”
Templus’ total capacity is expected to exceed 60 MW by 2026, thanks to this acquisition, along with the recent purchase of nine AtlasEdge data centers in Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland.
In parallel with the sale of assets, Grupo Aire becomes a strategic partner of Templus and will continue to serve its customers from the acquired facilities. The company will also have opportunities to expand to Templus’ other assets in Spain.
Templus said it will implement an improvement plan for all acquired infrastructure, both from Grupo Aire and AtlasEdge, with the aim of increasing power and usable space and raising energy efficiency.
Templus was launched in 2024 after ICG and Teras Capital acquired the data center business of Spanish telco Avatel. The company then bought a data center from insurance firm Mapfe in Madrid, and acquired Spanish colo bitNAP from Cellnex, taking over a facility in Barcelona.
The company currently operates facilities across Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Seville, Mallorca, and Ceuta, totaling 15.8MW across more than 4,000 sqm (43,055 sq ft).
The AtlasEdge assets will include sites in Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Leeds, and Copenhagen.
Aire Group’s brands include telcos Aire Networks and Ar Telecom, as well as managed service providers Stackscale and Teradisk. It operates facilities across Spain and Portugal via its OASIX unit.
OASIX Lisbon, located along Doca de Alcântara Norte, offers capacity for 150 racks across 470 sqm (5,059 sq ft). OASIX Madrid, along Albasanz Street, offers capacity for 256 racks across 992 sqm (10,678 sq ft). Located at 6 Louis Pasteur Street in Paterna, OASIX Valencia offers capacity for 85 racks across 500 sqm (5,382 sq ft).
OASIX retains facilities in Malaga, the Canary Islands, Alicante, and Zaragossa.
In 2022, Aire opened a new data center in Malaga, Spain, and is developing a facility in the Toledo region of Spain. Portugal’s Ar operates three data centers in Portugal in Lison, Porto, and Viseu, and has a presence in several Equinix facilities (previously operated by Itconic until it was acquired in 2017). Spanish firm Aire Networks acquired the company in early 2021.
