Finapp, a spinoff of Padua University that develops systems for detecting moisture in the soil and in 2022 attracted the acceleration support of Le Village by Crédit Agricole Triveneto, secured a Series A round of 8.64 million euros in support of its international expansion and organic growth (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The company attracted the resources of Linfa – Riello Investimenti, MITO Tech Transfer, Crédit Agricole Italia, and Tech4Planet – CDP Venture Capital. Luca Stevanato is the ceo and co-founder of Finapp which previously raised 0.2 million in 2020 and 1.2 million in 2022. Algebris Climatech, an ex-Art. 9 SFRD venture capital fund of Algebris Investments (the firm that Davide Serra created), invested 3.5 million euros in Biocentis, a London-based biotech that Giorgio Rocca heads which is born in 2023 as a spin-off of The Imperial College (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Marco Turchini, a managing Partner of Algebris Climatech, said to BeBeez that the firm’s products could apply also the medicine. Biocentis also attracted the resources of Grantham Environmental Trust, a fund with resources of 460 million US Dollars that Jeremy Grantham and Hannelore Grantham launched. Sources said to BeBeez that Biocentis also pitched Liftt, the holding of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Turin Polytechnic University launched and that Stefano Buono heads. Overlab, an Italian startup cleantech that developed the IoT platform Greenverse, attracted 0.45 million euros from Coesa Energy and lead investor Zero – CDP Venture Capital, a programme of which Milan-listed ENI is the main corporate partner, and of which are also part Acea, CNR, Microsoft, Sace, Saipem, Vodafone and ESA Φ-lab (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Giovanni Fracasso (ceo), Filippo Sertorio and Emanuele Vecchia (cto) founded Overlab in 2021 and will invest the raised proceeds in its proprietary technology and organic growth. Stefano Molino head the Acceleration Unit of CDP Venture Capital. Elena Martelli is the portfolio manager of Zest Investments. Andrea Scarano is the Innovation program manager of Elis Innovation Hub.
