Data center firm Edged has broken ground on a second data center in Chicago, Illinois.
Edged US last week announced the groundbreaking of its second facility at the Edged Chicago campus in Aurora.
Located at 2835 Bilter Road, the new facility will be purpose-built for high-density AI workloads and feature advanced closed-loop, waterless cooling. The facility will go live in Q2 2027.
“Safety and performance are at the core of everything we do,” said Bryant Farland, president & CEO of Edged US. “From design through construction and operations, we hold ourselves and our partners to the highest standards of safety excellence. This new facility demonstrates our commitment to building ultra-efficient, resilient, and secure data centers that protect both people and the planet. We are proud to continue our partnership with the City of Aurora as we deliver world-class infrastructure that advances innovation, supports the local economy, and preserves critical natural resources.”
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Edged operations and construction leaders, along with representatives from its construction partner, FCL Builders.
The facility will use the ThermalWorks waterless cooling system from Edged’s sister company, and be able support to workloads with liquid-to-chip cooling capabilities exceeding 200kW per rack.
News of Edged’s plans for the site surfaced in January 2023, and the company broke ground on the site in May 2023. The first 24MW building was launched in February 2025. The site will offer up to 90MW at full build-out.
Edged (formerly Edged Energy) is part of Endeavour, which was set up by Aligned founder Jakob Carnemark. The company has data centers either operating or in development in Bilbao, Madrid, and Barcelona in Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; and across the US, including Missouri, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Iowa, Ohio, and Illinois.
