Limolane, a scaleup luxury cars rental company that is reportedly raising 80 million euros for its M&A growth, said it acquired London’s competitor Driven Worldwide (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Cherry Bay Capital Group supported the company and invested 10 million in the buyer’s current round. Limolane retained Gianni & Origoni. Fabio Nalucci is the founder of Limolane. ALBA Robot, an Italian startup that developed smart wheelchairs and previously received the support of Turin Polytechnic University’s incubator I3P, secured 4.985 million euros from lead investor CDP Venture Capital, Next Investments and Enthofin (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The company will invest such resources in its US expansion and organic growth. Andrea Bertaia and Giacomo Moiso founded ALBA in 2019 and in 2023 attracted seed resources of 2.6 million from Cysero (part of AVM Gestioni), CDP Venture Capital, Techstars, and Finpiemonte. In 2020, Amazon Alexa Fund, a 200 million US Dollars vehicle, invested in the company. Alessandro Scortecci is the Chief of Direct Investments of CDP Venture Capital. Guidoio, an Italian digital driving school, said it attracted seed resources of 3.5 million euros from Azimut Libera Impresa’s Azimut Eltif-Venture Capital ALIcrowd III and IV; 360 Digitaly, a vehicle of 360 Capital that Lucrezia Lucotti (partner) and Celeste Mastria (investor) head and in which CDP Venture Capital – Digital Transition Fund-Pnrr invested (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Lorenzo Mannari (ceo) and Giuseppe Cavallaro founded Guidoio in 2023. The company will invest such proceeds in its organic growth. Guido Bocchio is the Head of Venture Capital of Azimut Libera. CommerceClarity (CC), a tech provider of AI-based solutions for the e-commerce sector, secured a 2.7 million euros round that Italian Founders Fund (IFF), part of Koinos Capital, and Entourage led and that Euregio+ (Alpine VC), Redstone, Vento, Vesper Holding, Ithaca Investments, Gianluca Cocco, Danila De Stefano, Luca Rossi, Fabio Tomassini, and other business angels joined (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Federico Sargenti, Daniele Vella, Michele Sampieri, and Alessandro Angelini founded CC in 2020. Irene Mingozzi is a partner of IFF. Pieterjan Bouten is a partner of Entourage. Klaaryo, an AI-based startup for HR, attracted more than 2.1 million euros from lead investor The Techshop, Frontech – CDP, Cariplo Factory, Gellify, Ottavio Maria Campigli, Paolo Fois, and other business angels (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Federico Pedron, Luca Tamborino Frisari, and Luigi Adornetto founded Klaaryo in 2022. The company will invest such proceeds in its organic growth international expansion and proprietary technology. Gianluca d’Agostino is one of the founders and a managing partner of The Techshop.
On 12 November, Wednesday, Musa – Multilayered Urban Sustainability Action (a network of Lombardy Universities), Federated Innovation @Mind and Lombardy Region rewarded the winners of StartCup Lombardia (prize fund 0.195 million euros), Green Chemistry Lombardy for a sustainable future (0.15 million) and Sustainable and safe construction (0.15 million) (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Attilio Fontana is the Governor of Lombardy Region for which Guido Guidesi acts as Councillor for Economic Development. Lombardy Region also launched the programme Zone di Innovazione e Sviluppo (ZIS – Innovation and Development Areas) to create conditions conducive to business growth, the emergence of innovative start-ups, knowledge exchange between companies and research centres, the creation of skilled jobs and new skills, and the attraction of investments and talents (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The applicants to ZIS must express their interest through a preliminary Masterplan. Shortlisted candidates get access to the negotiation and drafting of the final Strategic Plan. The projects that successfully applied for the first stage will receive from the Lombardy Region a contribution for up to 50% (and up to 0.1 million) of the expenses for advisory and the drafting of documents for the second stage. The following winners of StartCup Lombardia received 0.025 million and a special mention that grants the access to the Italian Award for Innovation 2025.
- Clear (CleanTech & Energy Prize), floating photocatalytic system that uses sunlight to remove organic micropollutants from surface water.
- AINana (ICT & Services), a platform combining human expertise and artificial intelligence to enhance nutritional support.
- Evoclin (Life Sciences& MedTech), an AI predictive tool for monitoring cancer evolution.
- SatEnlight (Industrial Technologies and Corporate Special Award 2025 in partnership with Thales Alenia Space), a developer of optical communications that use light vortices to increase speed and security in data transmission.
- Cellmets (Social Impact), a developer of special materials and 3D printing solutions for the production of safer helmets.
- Graphicore (Sustainability), start-up offering patented solutions for nuclear decommissioning and robotic handling in extreme environments.
- Hiddenz (Special Award Lombardia Style in partnership with the Directorate-General for Tourism, Regional Marketing and Fashion of the Lombardy Region), a provider of AI – based solutions for sustainable tourism in support of Italian villages and local communities.
- Thelia (Special mention for start-ups with at least 50% female founders), a provider of advanced optical devices that integrate 3D reconstruction and chemical-physical analysis in a single, precise scan.
The following companies received the reward for sustainable and safe construction:
- Brix, a platform for procurement;
- Dymond, structural monitoring software that automatically detects and locates in real time anomalies in infrastructure;
- INCO, a social impact project that transforms unused rooms into affordable housing solutions through intergenerational co-living;
- Pillar, a provider of accountancy and finance solutions;
- Pratify, a digital co-pilot for technical firms and professionals, simplifying and optimising the management of building permits;
- Proxima, a modular ecosystem of plug-in techno modules, capable of evolving over time and adapting to different needs and functions.
The 2025 winners of Green Chemistry Lombardy for a sustainable future are:
- Wembranex (Technologies for water management and reuse), a developer of sustainable and innovative membranes.
- B-Plas (Circular economy for materials and chemicals), a provider of innovative systems for the treatment of sewage sludge, reducing waste volumes and producing valuable circular by-products.
- Sinergy Flow (Innovative Materials for new sectors and high-impact applications), a deep tech producer of batteries for long-lasting energy storage.
- Agree NET (Ingredients, formulations and products with low environmental and health impact), a biotech that combats food waste with natural and innovative solutions designed to preserve fresh fruit for longer, without synthetic preservatives or plastic.
- Rafla (Digitisation and automation for R&D and production), a provider of AI systems for sustainable inspections of infrastructure, facilities and logistics.
- HPH (Industrial decarbonisation).
